I needed something for storing important documents and installed nextcloud. After adding a single file I was reminded of just how much I hate SharePoint and removed it again.

What benefit do you get from storing files in nextcloud over just using a file system directly?

True. But there are still degrees of privacy you can achieve without going to extremes.

Where does the AI come into the picture though?

Well, they sued the magazine for not wanting to post their rebuttal, which they are obligated to under Swiss law. I’m not saying it’s not a little silly, but they didn’t sue them for the article.

Let’s hope they don’t go under whilst holding the 100 billion dollar check the big AI firms have been passing around the last few years…

The conclusion complains that women have to be more wary of their surroundings. Last I checked men are more at risk of being assaulted though (it’s been a while, I admit). Could the differences be more gender related than risk related? As in men, in general, underestimate risk (which is why men tend to do stupid things that get them killed) while women overestimate it?

Cool, let’s give it a whirl! I accidentally installed the server (for completely self hosted usage) on my home assistant, but now that I got the client installed it looks a lot like tailscale.

I have been asked to leave in Denmark (Madklubben). But they have reservations for early and late evening, so you have exactly two hours to eat and gtfo. It’s reasonably priced, just don’t have too much fun…

I kinda do this, except I don’t pick it up. I’m just sick and tired of having useless junk lying around, so when I see something I want I consider if I’m actually going to use it or if it will just be relegated to a drawer somewhere. If I haven’t been missing it (ie. it’s an impulse purchase) I will almost always just leave it be and move on. I don’t need all this junk.

If it is something I decide I need, then I consider if it should be this thing, or if I should try to find a good quality version instead, since what I usually find is in the supermarket where it’s almost universally cheap junk. That also grants me more time to decide that no, I don’t need this thing after all.

Now that multiple people have mentioned Serenity I feel I need to mention Peacekeeper Wars as the wrap-up for Farscape. It was basically two seasons crammed into three hours, so it was somewhat rushed, but it wrapped up the show nicely and is a great watch!

It’s just a matter of what it is. The end product is still garbage, but to me enshittification is the process of making the platform worse by one way or another monetising the users, like adding ads and promoting content that while not in the interest of the users will retain them (such as ragebait on Faceboo). In this case they make the content worse because they believe it will attract customers.

I run it off my Home Assistant. The images are stored on my Western Digital MyCloud EX2 Ultra (which is kinda crap, but works) on a RAID1 volume, which is mirrored onto a similar NAS in the other end of the house. Ideally it should be off-site, but I haven’t been able to find a good spot yet.
