  • In wow, I was a death knight gnome in a raid (dungeon finder so it was easy mode). I think it was one of the early warlords of dreanor raids. Anyways 95% of group wiped, but me and the other tank (a paladin) plus a healer (revived with gnomish army knife - which has a huge chance of failure) managed to survive for what felt like 5 minutes. Really upset the dead folks who just wanted us to wipe and start again.

Unfortuanlty we didn’t have enough DPS and hit the beserk timer and that was the end of that.

I also loved using the multi-target death grip skill, normally it sucks every mob to your target, great for CC.

I read you can set your self as target with a macro, so I’d run into the middle of a room and yank everything to me in one go. Super handy when mobs came in from behind and targeted the healer - I just sucked them all in into the stabbing party.

  • Edit: forgot OP asked about IOS, not desktop…

    That is a fair point.

Firefox profiles is not well integrated or known.

On windows, in the run dialog (win+R) type firefox.exe -p to open the profile wizard. You can also make custom shortcuts but I don’t recall the exact command.

If you sign in with the same Firefox account on both profiles to sync bookmarks and stuff, the only thing different would be what ever you’re signed into.

  • I like Typefinity. (I have only used it on iPad, don’t own an iPhone)

A no nonsense ios keyboard with a number row!

Privacy wise, they claim to not collect anything. It’s not FOSS and also not free. One time $5. 100% worth it.

There’s not too much visual customization, but a few themes that include dark, light and few colorful themes. For keyboard settings, there’s everything you’d expect from a keyboard - not too much, but enough to disable things you might not want like click sounds and adjust autocorrect.

For the part you asked about; Playing around with swipe, it doesn’t seem to work with curse words.

Honestly, thats probably a good thing. Its better for you and these keybaords’ PR to lean on the side of caution (It could also be requirement from Apple - idk) You wouldn’t want it to mistake “the duck sits on the birch log” for “the fuck shits on the bitch log”.

Manually typing out bad words has no issues with autocorrection set to max. I normally leave it on “suggestions only” and just use the autofill suggestions as I type big words. Overall the swipe works, I don’t normally use it, but I was able to “swipe” a few simple sentences. I can’t give you a definitivite answer to “is it good”, I type everything like a caveman.

  • I’m going to copy paste a reply I left somewhere else. This was for iOS AI, I’m unsure what the implemention for macOS is. If they are scanning everything then I do not support it.

    From what I saw,

MS Recall is a 24/7 AI monitor system that captures everything you look at and saves it for later. They didn’t even do the bare minimum for protecting the data, it was just dumped in an unencytped folder where anyone get wholesale access to the data. All trust has been lost.

Apple is using AI as a tool to improve specific tasks/features that a user invokes. Things like assistant queries and the new calculator. They have said some promising things in regards to privacy, specificly with the use of ChatGPT - any inquiry sent to ChatGPT will ask the user permission first and obscure their IP. This shows they care enough to try, they have not lost our trust - but we remain skeptical.

If apple tries the same thing by scanning everything wholesale, then that’s getting over shadowed by the promises made by the implentaion on the much more popular iOS.

  • I would not consider my self a “conservative” and definatly don’t associate with all the baggage that come with the word now, but I don’t consider myself republican or democratic either. Some can probably sort me in to a category, and thats okay, have fun.

I will support everyone living their best life as long as it doesn’t disrupt others from living their life. Overall I try to support policy that will benefit society and indivules as whole while respecting individuals freedoms.

Here’s some hot takes that will probably upset all kinds of people. These are poorly witten generalization of what goes on in my head. I do try to keep open mindied to other opinions and perspectives.

    • LGBTQ+ - I fully support you, 99% of you are great, but the 1% on scocial media needs to stop throwing a tantrum whenever a stranger mistakenly misgenders you. It makes the 99% look bad. (hartasment/bulling not okay - If some jerk insists on calling someone who appears to have fully transitioned the wrong pronouns, after being asked to use the correct one - fuck em, they’re no better than racits and scum of society.)
    • Letting children transition? This one is much more nuanced, personally I belive letting a child dress/behave (I know theres more to it than that) in any fashion they like is absolutly okay. Putting them through various medical procedures/treatment like puperty blockers is an act I do not belive in due to some major (rare) side effects. Asking a 11 year old if they want to risk never having a child is absolutly insane to me. On the flip side, I do recognize the fact that pre-puberty is, medically speaking, the best time make the transtsion.
    • guns? Don’t care, but treat them with respect and don’t blame the gun for muder. If you have a violent history - no gun for you. If you’re the type to pull out your gun to show your daughter’s BF how tough you are - no gun for you. If you the type to wave it out your car window when someone upsets you - no gun or drivers lincess for you. If you don’t keep it locked up/secured at all times - no gun for you. If you make a gun safe that can be opened with a spoon (LPL) - prison for you.

    • ProLife/Choice - I’m personally pro-choice, but belive there’s got to be a limit, maybe after 6 months in its too late unless it’s medical or result of rape or something. Abortion clinics need to be seriously overhauled and properly avalible across the nation and regulated like any other medical facitly.

    • On the flip side, take a serious look at why individuals are choosing abortion over having children. Is it the economic burden, lost hope for the future, poor access to brith-control, poor education about birth control?

    • police - needs serious work. While most are okay, the bad ones get away with some terrifying life-destroying shit and it makes the rest look terrible. A law-abiding citizen should not fear the police, that’s is 3rd world dictator shit.

    • Corporations - need some serious regulations that basically say “if the government can’t infringe on citizens rights (privacy) neither can you”.

      • stop making the fines for these big coportaions cheaper than doing the crime
      • who tf let Microsoft buy all those game companies in an obvious antitrust violation?
      • Ownership - when I buy something it is mine. If I buy access to a movie through service X, I have baught it. If service X shuts down, my access should be transfered (download perfered) at no cost to me.
      • Terms and conditions - if they change after purchase, I should be entitled to a full refund if I disagree. You can’t abritaritly change a contract. Forced arbitration should be illeagle.
    • labor laws - mandatory holiday/vacation pay for all, even part time. Cut out the " tipped wage" bullshit. Find some way to raise wages without business needing to jack prices so high the new wages are worthless.

    • Drugs/Weed - again do as you please but treat it like alcohol. DUIs should be treated as major crime - they are operating a death box and not treating it as such.

    • Institutionalized gamabling/lotteries - go away. Its the poor people who get sucked in the worst, we don’t need people dumping the last of their money into slot machines and scratch off cards. Things like games of skill that can result in a prize, a raffel for charity or playing privately with a group of friends are all fine with me.

    • Healthcare/Insurance - step one is to make it so insurance isn’t the one deciding what to cover. The ones making profit when they don’t pay should not be the ones making the decision.

      • Step two - universal coverage: everyone’s covered for life threatening emergencies and related medicine needs. Everyone’s covered for 1 head to toe physical a year (that includes basic vision and hearing tests). 2 dentist visits a year. Everyone’s covered for 2 therapy sessions a year. That alone should be good for most heathy people. If you need more coverage then you start paying a bit more. Any voluntary procedures, I.e cosmetic - not resultant of an injury or medical condition - will not be covered by default.
        • Militay vets and first responders have full coverage for life as a thank you for putting your body at risk for others. Any one in an executive or political postion making more than $500,000 a year in personal profits gets 0 coverage as a fuck you for hoarding your money.
      • Step 3 - no “in network” doctor bullshit. If they are a licensed doctor at a legimatly accredited/licensed? medical facility then they are okay. If insurances find that they have repeated issues with a person/place, they needs to be investigated and probably shut down.
    • public education - boy what a underfunded mess it has become. Besides fearing for their lives, children are essentially being taught for one goal - pay into the college debt nightmare or go get a job as a garbage man. While an exaggeration and oversimplification, depending on where you go kids are being tested on high level collage literature (and all failing and made to feel like shit about it) or missing out on basic facts (yes the Earth only has moon, 5G towers won’t spread disease and Europe is not country.)

    • rioters disguised as protestors - arrest/fine them. I’m sorry, but destroying random people’s property or harming people (even if they are police) is not okay. They need to be held accountable for their crimes. At the same time, violent maniacs disguised as “peace officers” or something is also not okay. Peacefullly protest, find ways to inform unrelated parties of your problems with out disrupting their lives. While maybe not as effevtive, don’t make your self the bad guy - no will support you. Those oil protestors who sit in traffic need to be run over. All they’re doing is holding up traffic, creating a ton more of the exact emissions, wasting peoples gas, time, holding up emergency vehicles or some doctor headed to preform emergency surgery. Imagine if your kid dies because Doc McMiracle got held up by protestors preaching about leaving a healthy planet for our children…

  • They are trying to check the disability box while also needing an out for when they choose someone who can actually do the physical aspect. (Yes, a blind person could probably manage on their own, but if you need to choreograph with other people, it might get complicated…that being said, I would love if the actual actress was blind and successful in the role, that would be super cool)

  • I commented this in a different spot, but I’ll say it again.

What ever school you’re taking classes from should have a career consoler/advisor of some sort. Those people are there to help you, and some are better at it than others - if the first person doesn’t help much, try someone else. (They are also paid to keep in you in school no matter what, so if you do consider taking a break - maybe leave that part out)

(Typcall me took one quick last note and turned into an essay - sorry)

One last note, No matter what happens:

get a job to pay off student debt you may have.

I’m going to assume for a minute your in America’s crap “system” to extract as much money from young adults as possible.

Don’t get caught up in late fees, loan consolidation schemes, debt forbearance, “pay later” crap - pay at least the minimum every month.

Its okay to have a random job fresh out of collage for a while, being able to hold a job is a good resume builder and for references. The main thing is to keep a look out for new opportinies.

If you can pay extra, pay into the loans with highest cost - highest intrest loans first. Pay as much extra as you can, while still building a savings. ***

Once you start paying off individual loans, the monthly cost will drop - if needed paying off the lowest balance ones is good to get montly lower. But only for the sort term, the highest intrest loans will end up costing more in the future if you let the intrest build up.

I recommend keeping a 6 month buffer/oh shit money, incase you lose your job or your car implodes - have 6 month of funds to cover the essentials. I know its not easy, especially starting out, it might a take a few years to get there, but in my opinion, building up a financial pillow is going to be one of the best thing you can do for your adult self.

Personal story time, fresh out of collage I worked for 3 years out of collage doing maintance work for a facorty, I didn’t really enjoy it, but learned a lot. The pay was okay, enough to pay the loan minimums and get by. Once I had a comfortable financial buffer, I started looking for work in my field of interest. Applied to a few places and eventually got hired, pay was better but I still lived like I was getting the “okay” pay - all the extra got dumped into loans (and some into savings). A few years later, I was student debt free and refocued that spending into savings for a house.

***That advice is a genralization - do the math to figure out what works out the best.

Let’s say I have four 10-year loans, I don’t remember how often/if they were compounded, but I went with compounded monthly for intrest calculation - I also rounded to nearest hundred) (The calculations also don’t account for the principle going down over time with the minimum payments)

    • $8000 at 5%
    • $5000 at 5%
    • $7000 at 4%
    • $10,000 at 2%
    • The $8000 loan at 5% intrest ends up costing an extra $5200 in intrest.
    • The $5000 loan at 5%, ends up costing $3200 in intrest
    • The $7000 loan at 4% is $3400 intrest.
    • And the $10000 at 2% is $2100.

While temping to start with lowest $5k because its easy, you’ll just pay that in the 8k’s intrest. You might also want to pay the big $10k one to make less daunting, but waiting to pay that will actually save the most long term. (You’ll still have the mimniums to pay on each loan - always always pay the minimumns, set up auto pay if you can and let it do its thing)

When paying extra you want to pay whatever loan is going to cost the highest in intrest. (Recalculated every time you pay extra). In this case, start with 8k loan until the intrest in lower that $3400, which happens to be when the principle is down to 5k. At that point pay the $7 loan until intrest lower than $3200, which doesn’t take much with $6.5k dropping it $3200. From here, depending on how much you can put in, I’d just work on getting rid of them one at a time to get the monthly cost down (reducing how much you need to pay each month). When I started my monthly was $300+, by the time I finished it was $50

Keep going until everything is $0.

Here’s another option you may get: Let’s say I consolidate them all for a lower monthly bill at a 4% intrest rate and don’t pay a dime over the minimum for an extended 15 years. That sounds good right?

Indivually the total interest for 10 years was about $13,900. Total cost $43,000.

    $30,000 at 4% over 15 years = $24,600. A 30k loan ends costing $54,600

A good compound deal (10 year loan, componded monthly) that is sub $13.9k is $30,000, would be a 3.5% intrest rate, making the total instrest $12,550.

However, I belive consolidating also takes away some of options for loan forgiveness, pausing, and other aid provided by the govnment loans vs. a private loan.

Always do the math, and read the fine print.

Also find a proper loan calculator to do the math better then I did with a basic intrest calculator…I’m sure if this was Reddit, someone would correct all my the math in the comments and call me a moron. That beging said, I am just bloke on the internetxwith too much free time sharing what worked for him, not a fincial expert who knows anything about your situation.

  • As for straddling many subjects - its an okay thing to do, however you will not find a job that fits everything you’re interested in.

Thats okay, you can have a job (for example) re-designing city roads based on issues with traffic flow (lots of graphs and statistics there), while also reading into other topics. There’s also things like wildlife mangment that keeps track of wildlife population, from keeping track of their illnesses, to keepinh a a balance between over+population and extinct.

Topics you enjoy may or may not cross over into your work, and thats okay.

People are considered lucky to have a job they enjoy for a reason - most of us have a shit job that pays the bill, while we spend our free time pursuing hobbies and interests.

My advise is to go get a paid internship doing something for a year, talk to a recruitment agency or some professional (be careful with a random self-advertised “career coach” that sounds fishy).

    Read this part:

Sense you’re in enrolled in collage, or even a recent student of one, they should have a whole career department you can reach out tofor free. Even if your online, a phone converstation with someone can offer new perspective. They get paid to help you so their “alumni working in feild they went to school for” ratio goes up. Use the resources available to you.

  • I’m no caeer career coach, just a random fool online

    (I can’t even spell career)

I’d do a few of the following

    • first and foremost, stop sinking money into classes - with no goal its not doing you any good.
    • try doing some internships to get a grasp of what you want to do. “Logic thinker and STEM” are too broad - pick one the four letters and focus.
    • The trades are also an option, someone has to design the buidlings, electrical systems, IT infurstructure, AV systems, fire systems, plumbing, HVAC - there’s a ton design/enginnering work that involves all kinds of STEM topics long before the crustruction workers even know about the project.
    • there’s need for STEM in all kinds of fields, the key is finding something you are good at and can make money of your skills.
