  • It’s mainly the lens size. It has a wide zoom range with a servo rocker (zoom buttons) and can par focal* (focus at one zoom range and stay the same focus when zoomed out)

Then it’s a massive battery on the back and an audio kit strapped on the side. Then sometimes streaming device to live broadcast. Then you got a shoulder pad on the bottom and a big viewfinder for daylight shooting. Strip all that away the body isn’t as big and heavy as you think. So largely all operational to be used running around without needing to stop and change gear.

  • Stephen Fry’s reading of Harry Potter is just the best.

On a JK Rowling note. Her Cormoran Strike series (starting with Cuckoo’s Calling) under a different pen name is actually pretty great. It’s a modern day detective series with great personable characters. Very easy to listen to. Despite her crappy views, Rowling’s way of writing is very clean and simple so might fit your brief.

  • I’m not familiar with the eos ix. If it’s a different gauge film it would be a matter of sourcing it and then finding out if your local photo shop processes it or learn to develop it yourself. A-1 is still pretty popular these days. I have an ae1 I use time to time. FD lenses are still being used in mirrorless world so can be easy to find in second hand market.

Enjoy! Film photography isn’t just for the hipsters. It’s hella fun and the purest form of the craft itself. Just expensive…
