Mild surprise at the suggestion that “evidence” or “science” has anything to do with it.
I’d appreciate it if everyone could just stop burning fossil fuels, please. Thank you for your cooperation.

Okay I hate the “grid view” so much that I actually figured it out. You have to add “pref_key_tab_view_grid” in fenix_preferences.xml and set it to false.
Between that and realizing that you can configure it to show visited links in a different colour like normal, Ironfox is my new favourite android browser. Maybe the only acceptable one I’ve found. The tab settings thing not working is not unique to it, strangely. Maybe something weird about my phone?

“When it comes to genomics and understanding the aesthetics of crops …”
Um… aesthetics? Did he say something else and get misheard?

Maybe it’s not counting memory that can’t be tested because it’s needed for the kernel and device drivers. For example according to its man page free reports total memory “minus a few reserved bits and kernel binary code” and on my desktop here that’s about 15.2 out of 16GB.
I don’t know though, most of a gigabyte does seem like a suspiciously large amount of memory for that, never mind 2.4 gigs. I guess it’s i/o buffers, page tables, and things like that.

Of all the languages you could choose to randomly stan for. I hate Go. It seems like every cosmetic change they made to the syntax in order to make it look slightly different than C was a change for the worse.

Wow, they finally fixed “other issue in the JavaScript Engine component.” Good job everyone. I wonder what it was.

Star Trek, The Mighty Boosh, Gilligan’s Island

the language was “totally unrecognisable”
Damn it I read the whole thing. At no point was the problem described precisely, and no examples at all were given.
It’s like one of those articles where they’re hyping up some scandalous thing that got posted on social media without ever telling the reader exactly what it was. I tend to assume that when they do that it’s because the thing was deemed too horrible to directly quote, but maybe they just don’t even realise that it’s not much of a story unless they tell us what was actually said.

“Chinese EVs” is a weirdly specific thing to worry about when it comes to supply chain problems for sulphuric acid, if you’re not a Chinese EV maker.

What they are generally missing is knowledge of the fact that there is no morally acceptable way for a social media website to find out how old its users are.

Technically they might not even need to become carnivores to learn the habit of chasing people down and punching them to death to defend their territory.
And then of course the weirdest variant of all is capitalist golf, where it can only be played on scrupulously maintained private property and you have to pay like $1800 per year for access.
I wanted to try out this “twitter” thing everyone was talking about in 2019, but it wouldn’t let me sign up without a mobile phone so I went with fedi instead.
Communist golf is where everyone shares the same ball and has to dodge cowpats in the communal pasture as they play.

Imagine how malevolent the next generation of AI will be, when it’s trained on today’s Internet text.

True, there aren’t many old drivers who are honking the horn and giving everyone the finger — most of those people die young I guess.

Two spaces sure, but that’s for people who don’t use tabs.

I’ve heard of 8, 4, and even 3 which is pretty crazy… how could it possibly be 2!?
Our strategy is guided by four pillars:
There is no credible path to net zero
Burning fossil fuels is strength
Strength is power
We have the power so fuck you
