  • hey! I’m in Markham … our company is trying to be AI first. We’re having it set up a brand new project from scratch.

Instead of letting the devs talk about it and then using AI to build the code. They funnel the batch of tickets straight into the AI machine and we have to review the code afterwards.

It takes so long to review the code. Most devs don’t like reading lots of Markdown files to get the assumptions onto a big project.

The guys pushing this seem to just negate the fact that we need to spot-check things and follows and things make sense.

They took all our PR feedback and just fed it back into AI and we have to do another gigantic PR review. It feels a bit silly.

  • There’s something that happens to your brain when you get lots of money it seems.

Sam Bankman-Fried the disgraced crypto entrepreneur was an effective altruist with a few of his coworkers and their goal was helping people. I was reading up on them and it was initially about feeding people and earning money to give to others. When they started getting more and more money they were like: “what if there’s a zombie outbreak?” Obviously, we’re really smart and society needs people like us to survive so we should be spending money on private islands and having our own country to make sure we can keep humanity going or some shit. It was weird.

Despite what anything thinks about Bill Burr now … I think he had a really good point about these “end of the world” catastrophes – I simply don’t want to be alive for any of them. I don’t wanna be scrounging around the remnants of humanity with a dying ecosystem and dwindling human race.

  • I think it was the Roast of Kevin Hart where those bitch-ass comedians (especially Tony Hinchcliffe) that made George Floyd jokes.

Comedians said, “well, we laughed at Charlie Kirk jokes so we should be cool with George Floyd jokes.”

Charlie Kirk is a shock jock saying and doing provocative shit in his day-to-day spreading hate. Whether he deserved to die is one thing but he was in the public sphere in a hateful and controversial context. George Floyd was just some random dude – living his day-to-day and was murdered. He didn’t want to enter any public sphere. Tony is also a right-wing piece of shit so it’s not like he’s being tongue-in-cheek about his jokes. He openly hates George Floyd.

MAGA or right-wingers also went through George’s past and claimed his drugs is what killed him and then openly mocked him after his death by putting knees on each other’s necks lightly and shared photos of it online.

He was just a fucking man trying to live.

  • what’s funny is that I built that into my routine and I try to have conversations during family get-togethers

My parents seem to have broken that routine when smartphones came about will check their phone at the dinner table … my brother just has Reddit out all the time and scrolls if he feels the slightest bit bored. His kids are watching YouTube on the TV but they like talking … but he doesn’t feel the need to engage. His wife doesn’t seem to be all that engaged. Could be either due to him being on his phone all the time or doesn’t have much to say …
