There are a handful of options if you’re looking for a tweaked version of the YouTube app (no jailbreak needed) with enhanced options (blocking ads, skipping sponsored segments, allowing downloads, enabling PiP)

Keep in mind, if you have a paid Apple Dev account like myself you only have to load the app on your device once a year. But, if you have a free account you’ll need to do this weekly. That being said, that is why so many users prefer AltStore, it automates the process to ensure you don’t hit that weekly threshold.

Ah, I didn’t like Tusker at all as a Mastodon client and went with Ivory. But, I’ll give it a chance as a Pixelfed client and see how it goes.

It’s just a ton of little quality of life enhancements that add up to a nicer experience. I don’t need to create a list, there are tons of iOS 17 write ups all over the place, but I’m glad I’m on the beta, it’s always fun to watch the builds mature and see little changes as we approach RC in the fall. Being “worth it” is completely subjective, right.

I personally haven’t had any app compatibility issues since the beta began. Its biggest issue for me has been keyboard bugginess, but that seems to have mostly been resolved in the latest beta 3 release. I’ve seen years when the beta breaks tons of things, this doesn’t appear to be one of those years.
