  • No. They deal with the fact that they didn’t start the technological race until it was too late (and haven’t fully committed themselves even nowadays) and that they strongly build their sale strategy on the Chinese market - which nowadays is basically an EV market and one where German cars are now seen as either preposterous or “Grandfathers car”.

This comes together with a price hike (not only on EVs but also across their fleet - starting long before EVs were common and affecting the combustion fleet as well; see the price of the Golf or Passat compared to an average worker wage over the last 20 years + it’s resale value), a major lack of quality control since COVID and a lack of financial planning for this upcoming storm.

In other words: Their problem was not the end of the subsidies (which basically only affected the ID3 anyway as neither VW nor BMW or MB had any other models below the maximum price threshold for the subsidy) but their lack of management flexibility in time with a rapidly changing market.

  • You can easily keep Wikipedia around - burn it on archive BDs(M-Disc), they are easily hidden, can take the whole Wikipedia in one disk and basic information is extremely valuable in an oppressive regime. Then do the same for a collection of E-Books based on what is most likely to be banned/what the right wing does take the biggest offence on. And what aids you the most in either getting out or resist.

Using archive BDs(M-Discs) is important as regular storage devices can easily be detected due to their metallic contents and they degrade within years. M-Discs are far more resilient and can be almost as easily hidden.

  • Yeah,I absolutely got that, but simply wanted to point out that whatever he might have breathed in then could not been “much worse” in the grand scheme of things back then.

And, by today’s terms everyone was a smoker back then - public smoking was so omnipresent back then (and cigarettes much more harmful - I just say asbestos filter) while todays smokers are exposed to less toxins, that even non-smokers would be considered low intensity smokers today in terms of toxins. Crazy, I know, but on the other hand I had 3 weeks of smokers cough as a child after flying Bangkok to Zurich as a child - in the row closest to the smokers section.(Thanks Swissair)

  • Not only till 14 - until the late 70ies there was a LOT of shit going around and even through the 80ies.

But: I remember reading some studies that there might be a link to (even subacute) blast concussion and frontal lobe dementia as well as prolonged exposure to certain stress hormones.

I am unable to find where I read it, though.

Nevertheless you might be in the clear. Or get it from our own world of toxins(PFAS,certain nanoparticles)we don’t understand fully so far. Or don’t get it. And depending on your age there might be a drug available by then to slow progress down massively.(There are a few very good concepts in animal trials atm, if we are lucky we might have something available in 15 years).
