“Realistic goals” at this point have simply become to move away from America until it goes the way of the Roman Empire, then come back to rebuild the ashes.

You realize the office of the US President is involved in important things in the world
Such as maintaining the safety and full functioning of the United States of America? Yes, you’re completely correct. That’s exactly why this needs to happen.
How could I forget about Dolly Parton! I should be ashamed. The world could use a few more of her.
I did appreciate the story, thanks. And that’s about exactly how I expected it happened, lol. Minus the hikers, I wouldn’t have guessed that, but I can imagine exactly how it sounded when they told you to watch out for them bars!
Don’t let my people monopolize that accent! It’s a beautiful accent, in my opinion. Shame about most of the folks it’s attached to. Most people hear a southern drawl and their mind goes right to white supremacy rednecks, which is unfortunately not incorrect of them to think. I wish we had some popular well educated folks to bring that sound to the larger populace so that it isn’t such a red flag.

This is good advice. Most people aren’t weird enough to be happy. Pay attention and you’ll notice most of the super weird people, that project their weirdness and wear it openly, are pretty joyful people. They have shed societal expectation to simply exist as they wish to be.
Now there is a balance there, too far in that direction and you sometimes end up unemployed and homeless. But hell, even most van hippies are pretty happy people. You’ve just gotta find where your own balance is on the scale.

If bomb defusal isn’t already being done remotely by drone then someone needs to be fired immediately

Frankly, these days? Yeah you totally can. “Hey Siri, what’s 3% of 235,889?” or “Hey Siri, what’s 8/37ths converted to 300ths?” will most likely just feed you a correct answer.

Unfortunately that’s a minority of cases. Most bullies in my experience, and especially those bullies that are themselves using physical violence, only respond to violence.
Don’t meet violence with violence as your first option. But keep it on the table. It’s a viable solution if nothing else works. Some people just don’t respond to anything short of getting punched in the mouth, especially kids/teens with their brain chemistry fucked six ways to Sunday by puberty.

Are these liberals in the room with us now?

Been watching a bunch of Steve Mould myself, surprised not to see him mentioned more in this thread.
They’re really not that obnoxious. The folks getting their panties in wads about it are either fools, or astroturfers. You do you chief, and I for one support this. Folks get overly triggered about all sorts of stupid little shit, don’t let them get you down. Someday soon a bunch of us will probably wish we did something like what you’re doing.

That’s how it worked on my old phone, you got a message notification but it cost you to actually read it. No clue if they sent the message content before the paywall or if it pulled it down afterward.
But it also meant you could use your phone basically as a beeper without paying for texts. Just see who sent you a message, ignore the actual message and call them.

You could ignore them and not recieve. But then you’ve got a billion pending messages that you don’t know the content of.

This is a good answer. I think your local librarian would be thrilled that you’re trying to do this and most of them would likely put forth a completely undue amount of effort to assist you with it.
Source: I used to hang out at the library a whole lot

Depends on the project. Dwarf Fortress for instance survived about a dozen years completely on donations. But that’s a video game, not a tool (and one that people feel quite strongly about as well).

Real stupid take from the lemmy user. Trump lost the popular vote.

Withdrawal from most drugs sucks a lot but not a lot of them are lethal
Anecdotal, but I’ve never once had a problem with any function of Firefox in the decade I’ve been using it. On the contrary it’s been the most stable browser I’ve had the pleasure of using, orders of magnitude more reliable in all situations than Chrome or Opera ever was.
This post smells of astroturfing. There’s been an awful lot of “why is Firefox so shit?” posts recently, now that Google is proving itself untrustable.
