politics @lemmy.world•RFK Jr. wants Dunkin’ to prove drinking its iced coffee is safe
7·11 hours agoHilariously, conservatives are notorious for being against controls of this sort. Seattle tried to put in a sugar tax and it caused all sorts of uproar about personal freedoms. A stopped clock may be right twice a day, but this is not the way to effect change.

6·11 hours agoThis is genuinely huge news for a place like Arkansas. It shows that, at least for the moment, people in general are tired of the bullshit.

Holy shit, I didn’t even put that together but you’re 100% right.

Mine is a variation of one I used for years on other services.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•The reason why the US president loves McDonald's so much is simply because he's a world-class narcissist and it sounds like it's named after him. That's it.
2·3 days agoApparently he’s long believed that people want to poison him and thinks that fast food makes him anonymous and therefore not a target.

41·7 days agoeven then, many bluerays are just cheap upscales with no other changes. I made that mistake once with a boxset only to find that it was a very obvious DVD. this after I was roasted on reddit for complaining about that being a possibility and everyone angrily promised me that it was not that. it was that. I’m still bitter

4·7 days agoNotable that this would have occurred under rules governing behavior in the House and that it would have been the House leadership who did the actual ejecting.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•In the US we have signs that say No Shirt No Shoes No service. When did this become a norm? Also if I am wearing a shirt and shoes but no pants can I still enter?
6·10 days agoI believe that the no shirt no shoes was originally targeted at rural areas where someone might be working on the farm and come in as they were to buy some groceries. Time? Probably 1950s with the larger health and hygiene movements of the time.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you know youre getting burnt out at work?
9·10 days agoWhen you wake up and the first sense you have is dread about having to go do whatever you do. It’s when you can’t imagine doing it anymore or it hurts to consider it.

It’s a big circle jerk. One day we suddenly hate Netflix. The next day Apple has always been terrible. Nobody cares about the complaints that are doing actual harm.
