I admit I didn’t follow the link, but given the context I think it’s only fair to start with the first current post on this topic, as that’s one of several that contains accusations of zionism.

considering your update, it would still be reasonable to explicitly include the trivialization of national socialism as the original issue, because even though there are certain laws that we might not agree with, at least I fully agree that it shouldn’t be acceptable to trivialize national socialism.

i’m counting at least 12 accounts registered within the last week that are participating in this. some of them just after the previous post in !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com, others newly registered within the last day.

the problem is that your tldr does not take any of the explanation into account, while the previous posts were actively accusing the moderators and admins of being zionists and not understanding the reason for removal was instead the trivialization of national socialism.

Also, there’s a fair bit of comment removal going on in there, and the contents are not being shown in the modlog, so it’s a bit hard to tell what’s being removed and how it’s affecting the discussion.

this is unfortunately how lemmy currently works when it comes to instance bans. we would have to manually remove every single comment of those accounts separately for them to show up in modlog. if you look at the ages of the accounts and the names being used it should already be clear that those are all just troll accounts. if you’ve run across “anti yank” accounts in the past, these seem to be operated by the same person, with their only purpose being to troll by trying to stir up more shit on current drama (they seem to always be aware of the latest drama on lemmy) and frequently call americans and german genociders, not even being consistent in their own arguments.

Defederating the instance would still prevent feddit.org users to interact with the community

of course, that’s exactly the problem we pointed out in the original point. i haven’t heard anything about quokk.au other than their news community, but we can’t tolerate an instance ran by an admin that defames us by calling us nazis and zionists. considering that the community is moderated by a person banned from feddit.org this is something that must be expected to be leading to moderation issues regardless, as for example them posting announcements in the community, warning feddit.org users in comments, or trying to message them in private about their behavior is not going to work, so from their perspective it’ll just look like feddit.org users don’t care about their mod communications.

the instance is small user wise (local users), not the community.

Deceptichum is banned for reasons not related to the accusations, which won’t be solved by discussion. the admin account of the instance, @Marsupial@quokk.au, is not currently banned from feddit.org. they have also received a message from us last night asking to withdraw the censure within 24 hours.

aus rechtlicher sicht ist das bereits in unserer datenschutzerklärung erfasst, aber das könnte sicherlich auch noch transparenter für nutzer werden.

das ganze thema ist leider etwas unschön. auf technischer ebene können in den meisten fällen (öffentliche und föderierte communities) andere instanzen sämtliche votes einsehen. in https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/4967 wurde das thema mal angebracht und letztendlich hier dokumentiert, was jedoch auch eine stelle ist die kaum jemand lesen wird. im allgemeinen scheint es einige leute zu geben die es lieber so hätten dass man so tut als wären votes nicht wirklich öffentlich.

aus technischer sicht lässt sich das nur begrenzt einschränken ohne dafür andere funktionalität zu verlieren. wenn instanzen nur die menge an votes föderieren würden ist es praktisch unmöglich festzustellen ob das missbraucht wird. piefed geht einen mittelweg indem pseudonyme accounts genutzt werden können (benutzereinstellung), welche nur von admins der jeweiligen instanz zurück auf den eigentlichen nutzer zugeordnet werden können. damit sind andere admins zwar weiterhin in der lage die entsprechenden nutzer zu bannen um zukünftige votes zu verhindern, sofern die voting accounts gebannt werden, und piefed verhindert glaube ich (ne weile her dass ich das gelesen hatte) lokal dass die nutzer mit ihrem “normalen” user in communities interagieren von denen sie gebannt wurden, aber das schränkt auch massiv die möglichkeiten für andere admins oder communitymods ein festzustellen ob ein nutzer in votemanipulation involviert ist, da es einen weiteren großen teil der potentiellen identifikationsmöglichkeiten nimmt.

ich kann es leuten nicht verübeln wenn sie dazu kein geld beitragen wollen, das ist ja nicht grundlos ein kontroverses thema (die finanzierung, nicht die positionen der entwickler).

es gibt eine paar leute die zwischendurch pull requests erstellen aber großtteil liegt nutomic und dessalines.

zurzeit gibt es keinen fork mit nennenswerter eigenentwicklung. einige instanzen haben ein paar änderungen zu den regulären lemmy releases, aber das sind nur änderungen die entweder instanzspezifisch sind oder früher oder später in standard lemmy landen.

es gibt diverse andere threadiverse software wie mbin oder piefed, aber die sind komplett andere software. dann gibt es noch sublinks, was explizit als lemmy alternative entwickelt wurde mit api kompatibilität und migrationspfad, aber die entwicklung davon ist vor ner weile komplett eingeschlafen. mbin und piefed haben aktuell keine mobilen apps oder alternativen interfaces, womit sie lemmy in der hinsicht stark hinterherhängen, auch wenn sie teilweise andere funktionen haben die lemmy fehlen.
