Dude I experience this PLUS my mind just has to have a song playing internally constantly, so even if I don’t actually play the song, my mind will beat it to death if it’s catchy enough
I know Gnome is in your less important list, but Wayland is in your important list, so I’ll recommend KDE Neon. It’s Ubuntu without snaps and moronic auto updates, so it really just feels like a more desktop-ready Debian
the concentration of assholes is always going up
True, but this isn’t a natural phenomenon, it’s a result of engagement-based ranking algorithms. Assholes attract engagement by starting flame wars and the like, so front page algorithms push them to the top.
Before social media, forums were popular and their sorting was simply by most recently updated. I think this is part of what made the internet more fun: instead of websites trying to guess what you would like most, you were given a practically random, diverse view of everything.
Sort of, if you’re writing a research paper or presentation or something like that with a lot of math in it, you can use Latex (for the whole thing, not just the formulas). It’s 10000X better than writing the same stuff in Word, especially if you know how to code
Yeah, even in that sense… the irony
Ok I’ll stop being a prick 😂 if you haven’t used Latex before, you do write source code that gets compiled into PDF/PPT/whatever
You’re welcome, you caught me at a good time lol I’m currently playing through the series (currently on Tooie) after not touching them since childhood
Usually, the N64’s C-buttons get mapped to the Switch’s right stick, which is actually perfect for these games since they mainly control the camera and aiming
You don’t compile a book
The irony
Is Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts a good representation of the series?
Definitely not. While I do enjoy Nuts and Bolts, it’s like they took all the good aspects of the N64 games and thought “ok but what if cars?”.
Or is the original Banjo-Kazooie (or its sequel) so good that I should look past the age of the game and give it a go?
Definitely yes. The official N64 emulator on the Switch has Banjo Kazooie and I think it’s a great way to play it. The controls translate to a Switch Pro controller pretty well and the graphics look nice, except for the text dialogue.
RetroArch with the Mupen64-Plus Next core and the ParraLLEl plugins also run Kazooie & Tooie without issues
Idk if this has been proven, but I’m certain that the current desktop versions of Office apps are just Electron-style wrappers for the web versions. I switched from Windows to Linux about a year ago and have found the web apps to be perfectly sufficient

Work.
Early in my career, I made the mistake of revealing to my employers that I’m competent at my job. More and more work flowed onto my plate and before long, I was assigned tasks that were supposed to go to seniors. So, the seniors received almost double my salary while they enjoyed more open schedules since I was doing my work + some of theirs.
It’s simply not worth it to go above and beyond at work, unless it’s your own business.
People who only list classics are super sus. Makes me think they don’t actually read and they’re only saying those books because they were forced to read them in high school while the teacher spoonfed interpretations and analysis.
You say you’ve always loved to learn, but really it sounds like you’re more of a completionist. You’re more interested in succeeding in the academic rituals (taking tests and getting good grades) than learning itself. Aka, you’re extrinsically motivated, not intrinsically. Extrinsic motivation always leads to burn out eventually.
Perhaps reevaluate whether you’re going to college just to get some degree that will make you employable (as we do in the US), or if you’re actually interested in learning about a specialized field. If the latter is true, reevaluate your major and maybe see if you can switch to something that interests you enough to motivate you intrinsically.
PC games, just don’t feel like making arbitrary code execution a cakewalk for internet strangers
Plain ol cooked chicken doesn’t hold sauce very well but the breading on deep fried wings does
I believe it’s less about the calories and more about how your body processes it
Retroarch is solid after you take some time to configure it to work exactly how you want it to cuz some of the defaults are a bit weird
See if your qBit container supports mounting scripts to be run at startup and just throw in a sleep 60
or whatever
Is it really more expensive in today’s horrible housing market?
Proms were around for ~50 years before we started seeing “promposals”, where guys would ask girls out with 3 minute-long choreographed dances in the middle of the quad for the whole school to see & record for social media. I’m not saying it’s stupid to put effort into asking someone, it can definitely be cute, but it can also be ultra cringe if you take it too far
