Sure, give it a go. The bands and the learning you get access to as a ham are a valuable tool.
But don’t be that kind that gets a licence just for ‘prepping’.
Having the gear without being proficient in it’s use or having someone to talk to is pretty useless.
Don’t worry about getting anything wrong. Most people are pretty excited to speak with someone new or that doesn’t come on air often.
We’re all just normal people, done of use are even a little introverted.
Just say what’s on your mind.

Chances are that will spawn a conversation that feels less forced and more natural as you move forward.

The power that major tech companies weild combined with the addiction the vast majority of the population have to their products is telling me otherwise.
If anything things have gotten worse. Used to have 6 different supermarket bands in my town, but despite population booming we’re now stuck with a duopoly that has 6 shops between them (Coles / Woolworths) and 1 minor left over (Aldi).
That’s what I’m seeing as a 40+ Aussie that’s lived in the same town all that time.
I agree with all but hand crank drills. If you own a battery drill it’s probably stored with it’s battery and with keyless chucks (that don’t work on a hand crank drill) getting a battery drill ready for work is faster than a hand crank, and it will do the job faster too.
Amateur radio (Ham radio)
Very rarely do I have a positive view on posts in this com, but this is a rare exception.
No mindless, pointless, circle jerk hating, but rather a positive and legitimate wish and view toward an alternative.
People can hate on cars so they want, but since people and places end up making cars nesecary.
Earlier this year I needed to go Melbourne to Albury, usually a trip done in a car, but this time I had use of a car at the other end so I took the train. Was a fantastic trip. Access to a small food bar, toilets, the occasional stop at more significant towns.
Trains kick ass.
I’d love to see a better in town solution for transport, buses and whatever both in Albury and my home town aren’t really up to scratch yet.
I hear there are cases where people need TPM, but I don’t, and switching it off is a great way to avoid this crap.

You just described ARMA3 with some mods.
I remember being tossed in the deep end when the mods were new to me. Having to diagnose and treat gunshot wounds, inject morphine, run fluids etc… even CPR, certain medics could do transfusions, match blood types etc.
Was kinda frightening for a PC game… And often all of this was under enemy fire.
The enemy would be injured, shot, concussed, knocked unconscious, lose blood etc. the potential existed for them to regain consciousness after a while and if you hadn’t removed their weapons they could fire in you. Surprised the shit out of people not used to these mods… Always had to check downed hostiles.

I’d be careful with that suggestion. Some external readers will only read SATA M.2, Dube will only read NVMe M.2.
Ideally you’d want I’ve is each or one that will do both for maximum compatibility.
Though most drives do seem to be NVMe now.
Any more info on this Eufy issue? A came across a camera system if theirs that’s having issues. Might have to read up tomorrow.

Ham Radio
Some aren’t even aware the hobby still exists.
Easy to get licenced in most places, ham radios are cool pieces of clever tech. So many sub hobbies within. Digital modes, long distance, electronics, antenna design and building.
I’m pretty good with batteries, but I don’t know if I understand the issue.
Isn’t the keyboard already rechargeable? If so then why isn’t charging it an option?
What are you using the keyboard with? How does that device get power?
Is recharging or using a power bank absolutely out of the question?
Are you looking for a temporary, semi permanent or permanent solution?
Are you strictly limited to common convenience batteries? How about slightly uncommon batteries like cr123?
