I’m not sure how this hasn’t been mentioned yet but a lot of the Midwest doesn’t like California because it feels like there’s a migration of californians who have been priced out of California moving into the Midwest who both bring their left leaning policies into right leaning areas and buy up so much property it drives housing even higher.

I’ve hated Reddit for a while now and was originally happy to move to another platform but I’m already seeing lemmy start to show the same behaviors I hated Reddit for so I don’t think I’m gonna last long on here anyway

I’ve noticed this a lot with both lemmy and Reddit. You have to go into any thread thinking about the kind of people that post is going to attract because it often times does not reflect the rest of the world

Seems like a really shitty “fuck you” if all you’re doing is giving insurance companies more money with no benefit whatsoever to your loved ones considering it would be cheaper to pay out of pocket at that point

Rimworld and factorio cause time to disappear

Minecraft I keep coming back to year after year.

FTL is pretty fun too

I would argue many people are initially interested in making things better, it’s just that power and lobbying have a tendency to corrupt people

And all the posts that are just Twitter screenshots of somebody complaining that also plagued a bunch of similar subs

I can hope it won’t but I know it’s gonna happen anyway - the chronically online mentality that was everywhere on Reddit.

On reddit it always seemed like a lot of people (or at least the most vocal ones) never actually go outside and have this very idealized and unrealistic view on the world.
