A fox of the same species was found in a much older grave in another part of Argentina nearly a decade ago. It may also have been a pet but its diet was not analysed.

As usual, it’s more the article (and especially the headline) than the science. Here is the Abstract of the study.

It’s much more about the specific burial and the inferences that can be reasonably drawn about South America before the introduction of dogs from the north 5k years ago. It references multiple burials with non-dog canids from across time periods in S.A., including at least one from about 4k years ago, as well as many other remains scattered in with human burials. It seems to build on existing theorizing that pre-Columbian practices might have changed more slowly than post. Then there are the statistical arguments. If you occasionally find a fox in human burials, based on the number of human burials you didn’t find, you can feel pretty confident that there were more foxes buried with humans.

Twice that I recall, both while at least mildly ill. Once, in law school, I was late to class and had an assigned seat in the middle of a row, so I was not keen to draw further attention to myself, but I had a rumbly tummy and the bowel wants what it wants. I do try to make to make boards with layouts that are slightly unique from anything I could buy, just to lie to myself and pretend that I “have to” make them. Latest kick, which simplifies construction in a couple of ways, is making boards that have no key wider than 1.75 “regular” ones. Means I have more real estate to play with and don’t need the notoriously noisy “stabilizer” hardware.

Yes, that’s probably about perfect. There are a few human deaths, occasionally with a fair amount of blood, though it’s fairly stylized, and part of the lore involves the banal commonness of resurrection spells, so I doubt it would be too traumatizing for a teen. The rest of the gore is non-humans and often almost more like a particularly unflinching cooking show.

There’s only a little bit of “nudity,” and it’s thoroughly PG-13. Then the character interactions and themes are pretty gentle overall, though I guess there’s some realpolitik trouble brewing with some of the supporting characters.

Yes, it was in that exact sweet spot where it was good enough and popular enough that it got to tell its story, but not of such broad appeal that they got pressured to keep it going. I’m sure the theology and philsophy don’t hold up, but it was funny and smart and heartfelt and I loved the entire run.

Not really. I would be curious if other people immersed in SI only have similar issues to yours. Minutes and hours are based off of multiples of 12, and with feet and inches that’s already one we deal with regularly.

In English, over time, “I could care less” has come to have the exact same meaning as “I couldn’t care less.”

Some people get wrapped around an axle (i.e. irrationally angry) about it, but i just mentally fill in some context myself: “I could care less… i suppose… if i really tried… but that’s not going to happen.”

There’s no governing body for English. If you communicate the meaning and social cues that you intended, then it’s “right.” Of course, communicating social cues is sometimes where you can get in trouble using newer linguistic constructions.

I have a leap v1 I got about 5 or 6 years ago that was reupholstered by a local used office furniture place. I keep using cheap cylinders, so I’ve changed that out a couple of times, and I changed out the original armests about two years ago (bought from Crandall for that). All in, including the original purchase, I’m at maybe $350 over the entire time I’ve owned it, and the structural parts and new upholstery are holding up perfectly. The tag on the bottom says it is 22 years old.

The other side of my home office has a HM Mirra v1 I got for free when they shut down my employer’s local office, and my wife uses a Steelcase Gesture in the “study,” which is to say the nice home office that doesn’t have two 3D printers, a soldering station, half a dozen keyboards, a dog crate, and an elderly cockatiel. My 10yo uses a godawful “gaming chair,” but it’s pink and she’s ten, so ergonomics are barely a blip on her radar. She has a standing offer to take the Mirra.

I like Memmy well enough when I’m determined to use an app. Still holding out hope that a kbin one materializes.

Doom scrolling works fine, and discoverability is okayish. The search function mostly seems to bring up communities, so that’s kind of what you’d need.

I can’t really imagine the appeal unless it was a standalone device. The tactility and self-contained nature is the only thing that would make it feel like something “real enough” to bother with.
