This has basically been our spring and summer for 4 of the last 5 summers in Alberta. Just awful

Is this different than firing someone over their social media posts or inappropriate conduct captured on video? To me it does, but I’m not sure I can articulate why. Am I being a hypocrite?
Right, why participate if it’s just going to be buried under the mountain of other content.
I’d imagine you’re rather unique. I have a hard time imagining atheists believing in something as nebulous as a soul.
EDIT: Please don’t downvote OP, if anything this is a more interesting discussion thread than just “No, we’re just meat and electricity”
I kind of like the lower comment count. It sucks when there are literally no comments, but for me, I’m much more inclined to leave a comment when there aren’t too many already. Plus I found most comments were really low effort jokes. For every well thought out comment, there were a million ‘this’ type comments.
Plus everything is just a bit broken and requires some figuring out. I’m definitely pretty tech savvy, but I’m having a hard time imagining non tech savvy people figuring out how to sign up and access these communities, at least not in the current state of things.
Mostly spend time with family and friends. Usually there are big gatherings in most cities or towns and fireworks. Do you have anything similar (big national holiday)?
Still remember listening to her late night radio show with friends and snickering at all the sex talk.
What a bizarre story. Another good reason not to use Facebook.
Pic of the tree so we know what we’re dealing with?
My go to is just screaming
I’m one of the new users and I do have to say the fact that I had to jump through less hoops to sign up with .world was a big reason why I signed up there. When you’re trying something new the less friction the better to acquire new users. I don’t want to write an essay on why I want to get an account. I know we want to minimize bots, but there are other ways to do that than throwing unnecessary road blocks in front of users who are skeptical to join to begin with.
Being in a stroller and the sun being incredibly bright overhead. Must have been around 2 years old.
Really good summary. I think this is exactly why I never really took to Twitter and I never really realized why, but it’s exactly that. I’m more interested in topics than specific people.
The funny thing is on Reddit I was mostly a lurker/content consumer. There was little incentive to actually post because your post or comment was likely to just be drowned out in the absolute torrent of other posts/comments. Here I’m actually able to be heard.
Used to love flying WestJet. Not anymore, since the pandemic they’ve gone so downhill. Won’t fly them unless I have to and I live in their hub city.
First doubling from 5 million took 35 years, next one took 37, and this latest one took 57.
Yes it’s entirely based off of a mathematical model
I think low voted comments still get pushed to the bottom though, is that not right?
