    Being evicted would be terrible. I understand that you’ll think about the worst-case at this moment.

    As @ImplyingImplications has mentioned, the hearing is a very slow process (disclaim: I have no real experience of it. I just heard some stories). As you mentioned that you’re confident that you can pay your bill in 1-2 months, I’m certain that your pay-off happens before the hearing. In this case, your landlord would lose their stand for evicting, and you will be safe.

    It’s possible to negotiate with your landlord. If I’m your landlord, I’d accept a partial rent payment and a plan to demonstrate the tenant would pay-off in a few months. Evicting a tenant is both time-costing and money-costing.

    However, I’m not sure if discussing your situation with your current landlord is a good idea. Due to the different standings, being too honest may reveal your weakness. Does your insurance plan include legal service?
