The only thing that centrists really stand for is decorum. Anything is permissible as long as it is done legally in “norm-respecting” ways within the framework of liberal democracy.

So when a centrist is rude to you, they are telegraphing the fact that they don’t see you as human. Humans deserve decorum, in fact it’s all they deserve in the establishment centrist view, so you can infer that a rude centrist has decided you are no longer human.

So frankly if I ever blow up at you on Lemmy, this is probably why, because I have less than zero patience for rudeness from people whose literally only virtue is decorum. If you treat me like a person, then we can get along. Posting this so I have something to link to next time if happens 😆

Edit: I tell people politely but explicitly when they’re being rude and give them a chance to correct their course…but if they double down on being rude, then I gotta quintuple down on being exponentially more rude because that’s the only language they’ll listen to.

Furthermore, this also doesn’t apply if you have literally any more principles than maintaining decorum.

    I can see how this kind of thinking can be constructing a justification to be as rude as possible to others, while still retaining victimhood and moral high ground when others are rude in return.

    To someone on a far extreme, anyone between the center (whatever “the center” is) and them could be looked at as a waffling centrist, who if they perform the mildest slight is now deemed as treating the victim as subhuman. And of course anyone between the center and the other end is the enemy who can freely be treated rudely as a manner of course.

    It can be twisted as a very tails I win, heads you lose approach.

      This is why I tell the rude centrist that they’re being super rude, and then I’ll give them a second chance to be polite before I…blow my top… I’m really not looking to be rude to people without qualification.

      Yes it’s 1000% okay to be more than rude to right wingers, ten toes down. They want to kill my family and friends, they want to destroy our planet, and they want us to be slowly tortured the whole time. Fuck right wingers. They’re working with our enemies. Obviously there are limits, i.e. our means should resemble our ends, but rudeness is absolutely 1000% acceptable for right wingers.
