Hey folks:
I’ve been using Braille input on my phone a lot more now, since I got my Orbit Reader 20. But this morning, I was trying to write the word “alt”, as in alt text. I use Grade 2 Braille, so whenever I typed “alt” and space, IOS translated it into “altogether”. How can I make IOS stop doing that for a single word? I don’t want to switch to grade 1 Braille, write “alt”, and then switch back to Grade 2 Braille. That feels slow and annoying. Does anyone have a better solution?
Thank you! This was the answer. I learned Braille before computer Braille translation even existed. So this never really came up when writing on a Perkins. If I was writing on paper about the new CD I just purchased, human readers would know if I meant “could” or “CD” by context LOL. And of course alt text wasn’t even a thing.
Yeah that’s a UEB thing, not sure EB did it that way, you get that in print as well, anytime you need to switch from numbers to letters without a space or capital or when you need to say something is not a contraction. I find it on elevators now and again for Lower Level being 56ll because otherwise it would be Little.
