For me, depending on the circumstances:

  • Coffee
  • A hot bath (don’t hate)

Cold beer or glass of wine and music…sometimes listening or, when really stressed, playing piano or guitar while singing, all badly I must admit…and the singing usually requires more than one adult beverage.

Music is really a part of everything in my life really. I use it to:

    • Wake up
    • Get energized
    • Relax
    • Express my mood
    • Concentrate
    • Distract myself
    • Fall asleep

If I am not playing it I am listening to it. If I am not listening to it it’s playing in my head

I’m a big gamer, so that factors into a lot of my downtime. Binging shows on whatever streaming service I’m using is a key one too. I used to unwind by browsing reddit, but that place ended up becoming such a ragebait factory that it had the opposite effect. I’m enjoying unwinding with some lemmy though.

I switched to board games instead! There are so incredibly well designed and immersive board games now, that also can be played solo! Marvel Champions, Spirit Island, Arkham Horror The Card Game, just to name a few…

Building Gunpla. Cutting the plastic off runners, sanding the pieces, washing, adding panel liner, decals. I find it a relaxing hobby.

    Gundam Freedom 2.0

A walk. If really anxious, a jog works. Apparently it is possible to outrun it, even at my pace.

    Sex.

A cocktail while sitting on the front porch, or yes if it’s winter, a coffee while sitting on the front porch.

At bedtime if wound too tight, yin yoga works so well to knock me out.
