But the Next Generation is still the current generation because actually going into the future is too scary for Trek.

I mean there are two different Trek shows set 800 years after the end of Picard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m really curious how one would correctly interpret the original statement. I would imagine it has something to do with men abusing their wives or otherwise being shitty, but the statement itself might be a misrepresentation of the data so idk.

The correct interpretation of the data would be: Hmmm… that’s odd, let’s do a study about why. Simple study design: polling both partners “Why are you getting divorced?”. Some hypothesis to test:

      • There is a difference in in the amount of effort. One gender will expend on saving a marriage
      • There is difference in the incidence of marriage ending actions between genders
      • There is a difference between genders. With regards to acceptance of various actions related to marriage. What are the actions?
      • etc

I would also wonder, and this is because I don’t know how it works. Does one of them always have to be the filer? Like even if its mutual, maybe one has to be the filer anyway.

How much is that a possible factor.

Maybe some amount is the men that get their wives to handle their doctors appointments continuing to dump a lot of the work of the divorce on them?

Just like the wives who make their men carry heavy things, do DIY construction and labor around the house, shovel snow in the cold, do all the dangerous tasks, etc.

Please expand on that. What mechanism are you hypothesizing stemming from that observation to explain this statistic?

What I have heard about this is that it may have something to do with it being harder for men to find a new wife than it is for women to find a new husband.

A divorce is also worse for the man if he was the one making more money/having more assets because he now has to give some of them to the ex.

And most men are conditioned by society to only really show feelings to their partner and no one else, whereas woman can show feelings to their friends and family or random people too. So a man would lose his only person to share feelings with, while a woman doesn’t.

So for the average man it is probably simply less advantageous to break up than it is for the average woman, so they rather stay in the relationship.
