I feel like there are always countries in the world slightly ahead of Israel in terms of evilness that I would want to divest from first.
You’re misunderstanding the point of the BDS campaign. It is not about punishing the evilest country. It is about applying a type of pressure to that particular country that has a good chance of working.
This is not an absolute moral stance like “don’t buy from evil countries”. It is a specific call from Palestinian civil society as a specific political tactic against a specific situation.
Different situations require different tactics.
Only if oenhasnt already divest from those other ones, and this one’s just the next one down.
Which ones? For me, genocide is at the top of worst possible crimes.
China, Madagascar, any country with a totalitarian regime period. Genocide is bad, but we import from other genocide perpetrators.
I have a family member in one of these unions. Would be interesting to see if uni admins oppose it.
