It appears that the missiles fired at the US ships were stopped by the Phalanx systems. If that is the case, then they were just seconds from hitting the ships. This is not a smart thing to do. Trump is risking the lives of hundreds of sailors and a billion dollar ship for a publicity stunt.

This is not sustainable or sensible. Eventually a missile will get through.

Also we have no operational mine clearing equipment and you are sailing into a mine field. That is just stupid.

Isn’t the US Navy’s whole posture that it’s the biggest, strongest Navy there is? They have the whole mantra, something like “the subs show themselves when they want to be seen.” Always foreshadowing with leagues of ships sailing the high seas, blowing up their old ships for target practice, blowing up projectiles towed by aircraft with their CWIZ and enough precision that it obliterates the projectile, each individual piece of the projectile, and then the towed cord? Their nuclear powered rail gun technology. All the stunts, all the money, all the time and detail… and now imagine Iran stunts on the US Navy. That would be more humiliating than the air dominance fiasco.

Sounds very on brand for him then. I’ve given up on expecting there to be an end to this, I think it will just go on and on and on until Trump gets kicked out of office (and then some more because Dems are just as eager about this war and sucking off Bibi).

They wanted it open until Trump learned that Iran was charging a toll. Then he was like, “They should be paying me, not Iran!”

And since he’s so demented he goes back and forth until he’s distracted by his biggest priority, his fucking ballroom.

I’m starting to think the goal is to destroy the overall control the Middle East has over the oil supply. The US has shit loads of oil and if the rest of the world doesn’t shift to renewables they will eventually have to buy from the US or Russia if they can’t from the Saudis, Iran, etc.

It’s not a smart plan globally but in the minds of energy companies it’s good short term business and creates international leverage the administration can use against the rest of the world

The thing about oil is countries don’t want to sell it all…

The higher the prices per barrel, the more banks lend them on their reserves.

trump might just want to increase the value of “his” oil, and to do that you stop someone from being able to sell any of theirs.

        Like…

I dunno man, I rewatched The Sopranos recently and as inept as Tony and the crew really was, that’s what trump wants to be, he’s just even worse at it.

So anytime I need to try and understand trump, I think what would Tony Soprano do, and how would he pull it off if he was on a 3 day blackout.

And it usually lands pretty close.

But this on its own is a big parallel to the Boston Tea party, it was a bunch of rich smugglers who wanted their tea to be worth more, so they destroyed a bunch of British tea and tricked idiots into thinking paying 10x for tea was a good thing…

Countries run by smart, sane people don’t want to sell it all, but WTF does that have to do with the US?

All Trump sees is an opportunity for a pump-and-dump because he doesn’t have to care about the long term.

            Huh?

A bunch of rich smugglers were mad the British seized their untaxed tea, and we’re selling it.

The smugglers had a small amount of tea, but we’re being undercut by legal tea. If they sold their tea, it would be the end of their business.

So the attacked the ship holding their seized tea so no one could buy it.

They then claimed it was for the benefit of colonists, and the colonist should clap because the smugglers were going to sell what they had at like 10x the price…

If this isn’t a parallel to trump fucking with ME oil to increase the price of American oil, can you please elaborate how?

I’m going off memory, but that’s how it went down

                Yeah…

That articles agrees that it was wealthy smuggler like John Hancock who planned it, and that they used “useful idiots” that acted against their own interests…

Did you forget the part of the comment where you apologized for being wrong?

Did you misunderstand that article so badly you think it disagrees with me?

                Did you even read it?

I have so many questions, but I know you have no answers.

For anyone else reading this, the Boston Tea Party was citizens revolting against corporatism, which is why this aspect of its importance isn’t taught in traditional schools.

We’re not at war, unless they need that to win a different argument then it’s “we’ve been at war with Iran for 47 years!” As always, they have no consistent ethical or moral framework and always argue in bad faith.

Also, don’t fall for the pearl clutching about the “death to America” chants. “Death to …” is their version of “fuck …”. When someone says fuck the US, they don’t literally mean have sex with the US.
