Why the hell does Germany and Merz get such a pass for endorsing the Genocide in Gaza, The West Bank and Lebanon???

At the same time, Saar said he assured Wadephul that Israel has “no territorial ambitions in Lebanon.”

I don’t know about that. I think they very much intend annex parts of Lebanon.

Israeli officials have literally stated their intention is to do to southern Lebanon what they are doing to Gaza, which is explicitly Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing along with purposeful destruction of homes at a general scale to facilitate those things.

Fuck all these insufferable rightwing and centrist Germans who are sticking their fingers in their ears about this or pointing at Trump and saying “let the american idiot do it, it will only benefit us!”, y’all have blood on your hands, a LOT of it.

I really REALLY do not get why Germany is considered so highly by the international community, it is a society wholistically incapable of and unwilling to immunize itself against rightwing fascism even after repeated disasters resulting from Germany becoming convinced it is better than any other nation and I see no evidence yet this current case of fascist nationalism isn’t terminal for the country longterm.

Given that Germany perpetrated the Holocaust against Jews and other “unwanteds” and has tried to grapple with having done so for the rest of the 20th century, Germany should ABSOLUTELY be one of the first nations to condemn the Palestinian Genocide and the Genocidal behavior of Israel in general. Germany has a responsibility to and the fact that most of what I hear from Germany is “we don’t care if they mow the grass every once in awhile over there!” is truly pathetic.

No no, it’s not ethnic cleansing or annexing, it’s only ‘creating a buffer’.
After which they will fill it with settlers who in their turn will need another buffer.

The collective bad conscience from WW2 is really intense in Germany - “Never Again” was a good motto, but it blinds the older Germans to the truth of what Israel is doing. The younger generations see much more clearly that what the Zionists are doing is a genocide, but it will take another 20-30 years to arrive in mainstream politics.

We, being the collective rest of the world, simply do not have that luxury of time. Germany must shift in political awareness as the US has or it will result in more war, more genocide, and even more openly violent rightwing governments.

Man, i don’t know how to tell you this, but we two are having a very different view of the USA’s political awareness and the shift that happened in the last decades.

You can lean into whatever emotional narrative you want to, the polling data shows a massive shift very quickly towards empathizing with Palestinians and wanting to stop Israel from committing Genocide in the US.

Is there the same shift in Germany?

edit yeah it looks like there is, it just isn’t being reflected in the government so it is less visible internationally.
