At this points, delusionals like @Gary4205 honestly scare me even more. I have a feeling we totally could tackle climate change enough to keep its effects below catastrophic if only it wasn’t for the constant sabotage effort of idiots like this one.

He’s probably not even real. Likely just a bot meant to push public opinion to not take climate change seriously.

Copium I’m afraid. Plenty of people exist that think exactly that like. I live near a lot of them.

Yup. Dudes that live in their little small towns and think they can just intuit, via “common sense”, how the whole rest of the world works; from physics to systemic racism and all stops in between.

You are a bunch of overconfident dumbasses who can’t admit you don’t know something.

The problem is billionaires who fund propaganda that deflect blame off of themselves and to plastic bags and straws.

We could literally kill one billionaire and them not using a private jet alone it would offset enough carbon for everyone on the entire planet for a year or so.

Honestly people being like him being scammed into believing bullshit is a result of big industrials controlling the media. That’s where you need some stringent new laws with penalty’s that have teeth. Manipulating public opinion to believe in scientific nonsense should be punishable and also after decades later. I see big oil corporations being broken up and using the money to fund some more education of scientific principles to common folks so they are able to make an informed decision at the polls. Also introduce ranked choice voting to reduce dependency of politicians on Corp donations.

This is actually a pretty normal conversation for anyone on the internet, including those of us who hold PhDs.

It’s so unusual to have somebody about bullshit in your area and then realize wait a minute this person’s never even pursued a degree. In anything

I live in Sweden, in the northeastern suburbs of Stockholm.

Anyone believing that it is normal for is to have winters without snow and having draughts during summer are fucking stupid.

We need longer winters and more rain during spring, this would give us way better summers and a more balanced climate.

I’ll be frank, I voted for SD in 2014, I was really angry about the lack of debate about migrants, that any criticism expressed however resonable was met by screams of “Racist!” and similar insults.

Then in 2018, the social climate had changed and I didn’t vote SD, though I don’t remember what I voted for.

In 2022, I went with medborgerlig samling as they seemed resonable at the time, though I haven’t heard much about them lately.

In the landstings val, I have went with S throughout, and voted for a local party in kommunvalen.

Ever since Ebba took over KD, it has never been an option for me, I just get bad vibes from her.

In general I want higher taxes in my kommun as there have been national news that we have not been able to complete our obligations for students with special needs, and it is fucking disgraceful. I myself needed and got special help in school, and I want to make sure that others get the help they need.

Though, now we are getting completely off topic.

Look up what proteströsta means, I protested against the fact that you could not even hold a civilized debate on a key issue.

That is why I voted like I did, and I have zero interest in voting SD ever since.

What is your definition of a racist?

I am asking because it varies a LOT, not just from person to person, but from different eras.

It is a highly philosophical question when it comes down to it.

Back in 2014-2015, you could not express any opinion what was counter to 100% positive toward migration without being called a racist.

I don’t want large political policies to be taboo and not being able to be discussed like it was back in 2014/2015.

                That is why I protested.

Astrophysics involves also the gases around planets and the energy coming from the sun which are the main reasons for climate change.

Though to be fair, he probably was dunking with his PhD on someone who hasn’t set a foot into any scientific institution in his life.

Anybody with a scientific education learns some common principles and learns how the sausage is made. So that alone is probably enough.

She understands and respects science. That’s huge. Sure, she’s not a climatologist, but she knows more about general scientific principles than some idiot who watches too much propaganda that describes itself as “news”.
