Cheryl Cumings
Cheryl Cumings is The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.’s Workforce Development Manager. Cheryl works with Lighthouse employees who are blind, DeafBlind, blind with other disabilities to facilitate their exploration of career growth. Cheryl brings her background in community outreach, health care policy and blindness services to her current role. Cheryl is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and the founder of a nonprofit that provided blind students with recreational and career exploration programs.
Sara Freeman-Smith
Sara is a seasoned HR professional with more than 25 years of Recruiting leadership experience. She is active in the disability community as a member of Houston Council of the Blind, American Council of the Blind and its state Texas chapter, VIA (Visually Impaired Advocates) , iBUG (IOS Blind Users Group), and former Commissioner on the Houston Commission on Disabilities. Sara’s book “Turning Stones into Gems” assists individuals to learn how to find purpose in their life and career. Sara is self-employed as an inspirational author/speaker, Career Navigator and Disability Advocate.
