The formerly dead !corvids@sopuli.xyz is currently being used to push out the !crows@lemmy.ml community. Basically all added content is just reposts of content that’s being posted in the ml community. To me this seems very much like harassment.

Are such hostile communities welcome on sopuli?

Oh that’s so nice of you to chime in.

Yeah, I also didn’t like your instance beefing towards world, so what. I don’t like all the instance beefing. Boohoo.

And yes, I am enraged by what they are doing with crows, because I always liked the crows community. Imo, this is how you drive good people off off the fediverse.

What? That was a reply towards your claim i was being “overtly aggressive and negative towards the platform as a whole” just because i made a PSA about how buggy lemmy account deletion was. On all instances. You and a couple other people then jumped in to frame it as some lemmy.world problem, which it isn’t.

Of course, we got corrected on that.

This doesn’t change the fact that LW a 3 days delay with aussie.zone, and has for the last 6 months. Which is why a few people have been trying to avoid LW, because it’s too large.

You mention “instance beef” a lot, but that’s the nature of a federated platform. And here, it’s purely technical.

To come back to the main topic, the ml mod is probably not going to answer, and that’s fine. Recent examples of other successful consolidations in the past

Maybe a bit impolite to repost stuff (in general, not just on lemmy), but that’s how internet seems to work today. Any platform which gives option to monetize the popularity will receive a ton of accounts which just blatantly steal content from the internet, fill it with ads or product placement and spam the hell out of it.

Meanwhile !corvids@sopuli.xyz has on average a single post per day. And I’m pretty sure that both of those communties are mostly reposts from somewhere else.

Yeah, the crows community is low traffic, that makes it even worse imo. Most stuff is being posted by its mod, with almost all original crow content. He has been doing so since summer 23. The sopuli one has been completely dead up until two weeks ago when they started the reposting.

If it’s original content then there’s an option to request removal of those posts based on copyright. I at least hope that users in Lemmy are civilized enough to respect that.

But creating (or reviving in this case) another community for same niche is still not harrasment nor hostile. If the mods of both communities think that they’re competing with eachother they are free to arrange things differently (splitting already small userbase is not beneficial for either). However it’s not something I think any instance mod should interfere with and this kind of metadiscussion should be in those communities, not in general meta.

            Thanks for your civil remarks.

I am not sure what the mod of crows thinks of it, i can only assume that he’d think what they do is lame as hell, i have a hard time seeing it any other way. But kudos to him for not even taking the bait and just keeping on doing his thing, unlike me 😆

I am not against the corvids community, if it was an organic community of people interested in crows i’d be all for it, but like i said in the other reply, right now i can only perceive it as a fediverse politics community, not a crows community.
