I spend maybe 30 minutes doing actual work on average. Then once a blue moon I get off my ass and finish my assigned projects in like 3 hours and continue to do nothing.

People think that Windows doesn’t do swap because on Windows it’s done automatically for you. Does it wear down the SSD? Yes, but so does every other write operation. Ideally, getting like 32gigs of ram so you’ll never have to use your swap is ideal(or at least use less), but not everyone can do that.
Mhm… no Rocky/Alma?
that’s just a troll, downvote and move on
I last tried in 2019 but LTT made a video recently saying they won’t accept sponsorships from Plex anymore until they fix downloads. I have a Plex Lifetime Pass and I’d love to use it again if the download worked, because that’s the only thing I want to use it for now (in between moving apartments)
Plex app does exist. The download feature on it is 50/50 and will bamboozle you when you need it most
Apple implements a good amount of post processing into their camera app, not surprised judges were not able to be 100% certain.
Put one of them fake ransom ware screens
IPv6 torrenting for the most part goes unchecked by the companies who send threat letters to your ISP. I have a US seedbox which doesn’t have IPv4 and it’s been working great with a lot of public torrents
I feel your pain. But wefwef won me over because it’s the UI I had gotten to know and adjusting to something different sucks. The other “Apollo-inspired” apps are not there yet. Guess we’ll see where we are in a month.
The whole thing took me about 30-40 minutes to set up from a scratch Debian 12 installation. The two main reasons I self hosted is because the instance hosted by the developer is getting rate limited and the second problem is there’s no IPv6 support. Privacy concerns were the least of my worries. The majority of the time I spent was configuring the other fun stuff, such as nginx ssh keys and firewalls. Other than offering you my own instance there’s not much I can do (which then again, is just trusting a different developer with your information)
I’m in the same boat as you which is why I set up my own wefwef instance. It’s a docker container so you can build it and use or if you trust the author just use the one he’s posting on ghcr.io

I think this includes mastodon + Lemmy but the costs are rising slowly.
While this is true, some of the bigger instances are explaining in detail how much they’re paying and for what on their Open Collabarative pages. If it doesn’t add up someone will notice eventually.
For many people, myself included, paying $10 a month for some VC schmuck to buy another pina coloda while he’s resting on the beach smoking a Cuban cigar laughing about how much money he made from exploitation is a no-way. On the contrary, paying $10 once every few months to cover hosting costs for a service we all enjoy using and is not misusing our funds is something a lot are happy to do.
When I purchase something or subscribe to a service (the only subscription services I have are servers I rent sooo…) I think twice about whether I wanna spend this money because I can find a loophole around it, donating to keep my instance alive is something I’m ready to do.
I’m not a fan of alternative packaging solutions. Never been. If it’s not in Debian’s repositories then I don’t bother with it. Some would say that’s close minded as not all packaging solutions are bad but when you use a stable distribution like Debian the native packaging solution is a lot easier to maneuver and troubleshoot than flatpaks and the like.
