  • It’s the most highly optimised software available for consumer computers. Much easier when you support a very limited set of devices which you have compete hardware control over.

It is UNIX so very similar to using Linux when you use a terminal.

The UI is very polished and very stable. MacOS has not changed how the UI works or feels in a long time, during which windows and Linux (gnome/kde) have changed a lot. Both becoming more like MacOS. macOS has changed a little mostly features and styling.

It has wide support, including support for priority programs that Linux does not. Apple appears and feels like they respect user privacy much better than Windows. You feel like you paid for the product and you are the customer. Unlike windows, where you pay to be exploited for data harvesting to the real customer advertisers. Apple is in many ways in between windows and Linux. Not as free and open, but not as exploitive and limited as windows. It’s a common misconception that MacOS is somehow locked down or walled off, it’s less locked down and walled off than windows. But like Linux it requires some terminal know how.

  • For a home user, leaving beans in hoppers negates much of the improvement in coffee quality that higher end grinders may achieve.

If you want a big hopper, you may as well save some money and get something like a encore or svart aroma.

These grinders don’t have big hoppers because that’s an advantage. Smaller hoppers means you can single dose without beans bouncing about for too long. The people chasing cup quality that has them buying these more expensive coffee grinders will already be single dosing, and using fresh beans. Because that can have a disproportionate impact compared to the price difference of many grinders.

  • I think they are suggesting this man developed bird flu with no evidence of interaction between animals. Suggesting a person with bird flu gave him this strain of bird flu.

The big concern with bird flu is that transmission between humans becomes viable. Then it can spread. When it’s confined to birds, only humans that work in chicken farms are going to catch it. When it can spread between humans then we are at risk of a pandemic.

This just raises the alarm that human transmission of bird flu could be happening. Because they haven’t ruled it out yet.

  • No, the people targeting children in the adverts and entertainment should face criminal prosecution.

They know they’re targeting children, they want to target children and they already use methods to attempt to get over what protections are in place.

Google have expressly told advertiser, that they can target children is they go after unknown users.

The only people watching most of the content are children and the mentally handicapped. Most adults would find it too annoying. The people creating it know this. Prime drinks are an example of this, the groups associated with it regularly discuss topic and use humour that inappropriate for children and often plays with sexist, racist and intolerant themes. They wanted to sell alcoholic drinks with their branding, but realised there was no market for it because most of their viewers are under 12.

  • This is the danger of allowing unregulated media, entertainment and advertisement towards children. She didn’t come up with these ideas on her own. She was actively pursued and encouraged to do this by YouTube children entertainers and advertisers. They did it for profit and will do it again, then blame parents and governments for letting them do it.

Never before have businesses had this much direct access to children. They see it as a great market. They are easy to manipulate, uniformed and highly sensitive. These are the reasons we limited who, when and what could be advertised to them in the past. It was much easier with TV.
