Pain is a signal that a life form has been damaged. I should think that most if not all multicellular life forms have some method of detecting when they are damaged or dying, else their survival would be highly unlikely.

What I don’t fathom is why some scientists do not approach all life on earth with basic assumptions of self-preserving behaviour and the implications therein.

A creature does not need to be able to point at you and go “ooga booga” to have feelings.

Celsius isn’t actually metric, per say. Its based on the freezing point of water while farenheight is based on the freezing point of mercury.

Celcius is what most of the world used because 0 is where water freezes and is very relevant to the human condition, hence why its the most used.

It was adopted as part of the metric SI system but unlike all the units developed for metric which actually use the above scale, I do not believe there is any practical use for this with celcius.

Kelvin does use this however.

All of these can be used with any measure, and that’s the point.

I really dislike ketchup.

HP is nice because its intended to be used sparingly, and hence why you found it strong in the vinegar respect.

Its meant for putting a light drizzel on an egg sandwich, or a dab on a bite of steak. Its not for using in quantity on something.

In this case I’m guessing it’s to conpensate for those super plain potatoes in place of herbs and butter… Not my recommendation for getting a taste of it, for sure. But HP sauce is more popular in Canada. We have A1, but I never see anyone use it.

Willing to bet that wonderbread is “buttered” with margerine to boot. Even less flavour.

HP sauce is so much better than A1.

A1 tastes like someone mixed HP sauce with Ketchup.

I mean, I like beans; but could you not crisp up the potatoes a bit, or make a colcannon? Could you not buy better bread, or even lightly toast it?

Walmart should be avoided, always. Cheapest does not win. You lose later while thinking you won. And the rich that own big chains like Walmart know that.

That’s also corporate funding and buying power. They will fund lower prices to crush the little guy and then raise their prices when the little guys are gone.

They can buy their fertilizer, diesel, and seeds in bulk at discount. Your little guy cannot.

And when there’s a disaster localized to you?

Your little guy will be there, keeping his produce on the shelf, while the big guys products can’t get through because shipping routes are closed.
