  • Having received warnings from the OQLF for stuff, they have always been courteous, patient and open to accommodations. Honestly, if you don’t throw a hissy fit it always works out fine and any penalty is easily avoidable.

The unfortunate reality is they have to investigate every complaint even if it’s spurious.

They also have cool guides on vocabulary for stuff you might only have english words for. People need to move on from 1976 lol.

The only people who stand to benefit slacking on enforcement are big American companies who want to save a tiny expense. The same who are pressuring us in current trade talks. So no, I don’t accept this constant malicious framing of reasonable enforcement of the law.

  • Yeah, I think the future is bright. We need to cut out Microsoft, Google and Oracle from public service use. Hold Amazon accountable for its labour violations. Remove our data from US owned or located datacenters. Ban Facebook for its criminal activities. Force Netflix and other streamers to pay into our culture production funds and create/promote more Canadian/French Language content. We need to become food independent from the US. No way we should die from eating their bullshit.

We’ve allowed our sovereignty to be eroded by these companies who do whatever the fuck they want with no consequences.

And quite frankly, I think the Auto Industry in Ontario can die and then be replaced with military industries: small arms, drones and missiles. Enough fucking around.

  • I was terrified with what I heard the Liberals were ready to fold on to get a deal. I am beyond happy we are in a situation of walking away. There is nothing to gain caving on anything anymore. The US will not follow through on their agreements anyway. Give them nothing.

I think we need to focus on hard divesting from the US and focusing on our sovereignty. Cut out Microsoft, Oracle and Google from government use. Ban Facebook for its constant criminal behaviour. Remove all our data from US located or US owned datacenters. Slam Amazon on its appalling labour practices. Make Netflix pay into our culture like all media providers.

Have our laws and values respected on our soil. No more soft ball to American corporations.

  • The US military base in Bahrain was there for much longer than the administration. While it may have been sufficient for operations in Iraq, it makes absolutely no sense to supply an aircraft carrier operating outside the Persian Gulf from within the Persian Gulf… I don’t understand how any planners thought this made sense. They knew Iran could shut off or severely endanger passage of the Hormuz straight.

How could the base resupply the Lincoln even if it wasn’t destroyed? Did the US really have no logistical capabilities in the Arabian Sea? They have facilities in Djibouti and Oman.

I think we are letting Hegseth’s stupidity take the fall for a clear diplomatic or military planning failure.
