And where is the bourgeoisie in that?

I don’t know if anyone of you still looks at memes on 9gag, it once felt like a relatively neutral place but the site slowly pushed right wing content in the last years and is now infested with alt-right and even blatantly racist “memes” and comment-sections. Fels to me like astroturfing on the site to push viewers and posters in some political direction. As an example: in the span during US-election all of a sudden the war on palestine became a recurring theme depicting the Biden admin and jews as “bad actors” and calling for Trump; after election it became a flood of content about how muslims are bad people and we shouldn’t intervene in palestine…
Couldn’t have said it better. To me the game-changer was frying a good firm tofu until crispy, adding minced garlic, ginger and chili, and just before it burns you have to drench some soy-sauce on it. It should almost instantly get absorbed by the tofu together with any excess oil. Your mission is to find a good tofu now, if you can share your location someone might provide you with suggestions.
I get your vibe and i would have said the same before visiting large parts of asia. There is lots of shitty tofu around in western supermarkets that taste like sour carton and it is borderline impossible to get it prepared in a way that is enjoyable. Don’t give up on tofu yet tho, there are so many different style of tofus, ways to prepare it and brands that saying “i don’t like the taste of tofu” now sounds as radical to me like someone saying “i don’t like the taste of meat”, you might not have found a good tofu, the right tofu for your meal, the right seasoning or it wasn’t prepared in a way that you enjoyed.
Dear Santa take this article as my whishlist! Much love xxx
The center for consumer freedom would disagree ':)
Yes, gotcha! We had a Thai delivery service like that we used to order from. Despite clearly labeling the dishes as vegan they regularly used fishsauce, put eggs in it or even chicken once… Super frustrating and there wasn’t many other vegan options. After many fuck-ups we lost trust in that restaurant we got super paranoid everytime a dish tasted “fishy” so we stopped ordering from there.
Fish is not vegetarian tho, they usually use seaweed and mushroom sauce in vegetarian dishes
Someone cares to explain why this comment gets downvoted?
In my experience the only non-vegan ingredient in asian vegetarian dishes is eggs, and around here it is absolutely no problem to ask for extra-tofu instead. What sauces are you refering to?
Very interesting read, gives me flashbacks of my old self 10 years ago when i started asking myself the exact same questions. It took me two years to gather enough experience, cookingskills and knowledge to realise there is no strong reason left for me not to be vegan. To me the realisation that there is no ethical alternative only fully made sense after i reached that point where i felt confident beeing able to sustain myself healthily and comfortably without animal products. I think lots of people feel pressured when beeing confronted with the ethical issues of animal farming because they don’t feel empowered beeing able to change their behaviours.
Free Willy! <3
i never saw plant-based milk even near the cow-milk sector in any store i’ve been at, usually there is a seperate shelf for those. Is that different for the UK? Idk who needs to be protected here but it doesn’t seem to me that the consumer is in any danger of buying & drinking the wrong kind of milk :x
Was thinking the same, nothing in there really striking me as innovative. But good to know Fraunhofer institute is dedicating ressources into plant-based research.
interesting read, always good to know to which stimuli our primate brain reacts. But i fear marketeers (is that how you call people in marketing?) will use this to maximise profit instead of reducing waste
Vegan Sucuk? Eager to try!

“Globally, nine percent of all farmed land animals are slaughtered for pet food. In wealthy countries like the U.S., where more people have companion animals, this rises to 20 percent.” That is much more than i would have ever guessed
YumYum instant noodles beef flavour, duck flavour and chicken flavour are vegan; vegetable flavour and curry flavour aren’t lol
But the price for food is down… It is, right?
