Demand for power is growing fast, but hydro plants, the oldest source of clean energy, are struggling because of droughts, floods and other extreme weather linked to climate change.
Except that the world doesn’t need more energy. AI data centres need more energy. The world doesn’t need AI data centres either; investors need them to make money. Which is why AI is being shoehorned into everything. Nobody asked for Clippy to inaccurately summarise their emails or give answers to questions that have a plausible vibe, but it profits the powerful and well-connected for these things to exist, so we get them anyway.
We do however need a lot more electricity to move people off fossil fuels.

For sure, but having less hydropower as a result of higher temperatures makes it just a touch harder to do
