House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday said Democrats will not focus on impeaching President Trump if they regain a majority in the lower chamber after midterm elections.

“I’ve made clear from the very beginning that our top priority is going to be to drive down the high cost of living,” the House minority leader added.

The House minority leader has lauded Democrats’ push for redistricting nationwide in an effort to pick up additional House seats and signaled that the party will advocate more for working-class Americans, after Democrats saw losses from the key demographic in the 2024 election.

People didn’t vote because they felt like Harris was not worth voting for. She lost because she didn’t actually offer anyone what they wanted, she was just a harm reduction candidate at best. That isn’t sufficiently motivating to get people out to vote, no matter how much we rant and yell and shame people.

Please, I am begging you, accept this reality. I want Trump and the Republicans gone probably even more than you do. I am trying to help you understand that we lost for a very good reason and we need to learn from it.

What you think, and whether she would have done a good job, is completely irrelevant. Do you not understand my point? You win elections by having a candidate that people want to vote for, usually by advancing policies which are popular.

The genocide in Gaza is now like a 90/10 issue. It is known that it was a factor in why Kamala lost the election. If she had opposed the genocide, it is very possible that she would have won.

I am not shitting on Democrats just for fun. I am trying to explain that Trump won because the Democrats advanced a shit, genocidal candidate.

If you let them do the same thing again in 2028, we very well may see a Republican President even worse than Trump.

Please, demand more than the bare minimum.

So you voted trump to stop all the forever wars, release the Epstein files, etc?

Democracy isn’t just about voting once in a while, and boy democracy is less about “getting what you want” than removing wannabe dictators.

But then again your whole system is broken, so good luck, because you need to fix it, and that happens by hard work from the bottom up.

I have no idea where you got the idea that I’d ever vote for Trump. I’m an anarchist, and a union rep, and an activist doing organizing in my local community, but I also always vote for the best candidate I can to mitigate harm. All I am doing here is trying to help liberals understand why Harris lost the election, because I want the Democrats to win. I want to try and avoid another fascist dictatorship, which is inevitable if the Democrats continue to be fascism lite.

Single issue voters are the worse and the only reason we’ll have a republican president in 2028 is if people try to suppress the democratic vote again.

So it should be the easiest fucking layup in the world to run on reversing all of Trump’s policies, using every means at your disposal instead of crying how powerless the literal fucking president is. But that didn’t happen under Obama, or Biden, and the dems still refuse to admit they did anything wrong and course-correct.

Tons of people still forgo or delay healthcare because they know or fear it will cost too much. This is the failure you should expect when you relabel a republican policy and pass it as progressive, after slapping on extra means-testing and weird, complex, market-based solutions in the moronic belief that this centrist model will appeal to both republicans and democrats, instead of just giving people free healthcare and appealing to everybody who likes having healthcare and money.

Hopefully a better candidate wins, despite the party’s inevitable fuckery in the primaries. Because if another genocidal corpodem “wins” the nomination, they will lose in the general.

That’s not me threatening to take my ball and go home. That’s not purity testing. That’s not whatever thought terminating cliche you centrists use whenever you don’t want to listen to someone to your left trying to interrupt you when you’re making a mistake.

That’s an honest assessment of the electorate you have to get votes from if you want to win.

You would rather lose, blame the left, and move to the right. Genocide wasn’t far enough to the right for you or any other centrist.

You can hate the people who didn’t vote if you want, I understand that frustration, but there is a very good reason they didn’t vote - because they didn’t perceive the Democratic candidate to be someone worth voting for.

Advance a candidate with popular policies who isn’t a genocidal piece of shit and watch in amazement as political engagement ramps up.

It’s like clockwork. Say something a centrist doesn’t want to hear, and they assume you want a lecture.

I’m very tired of having to repeat to you centrist-splainers that I voted for harris.

Yes, republicans are worse. But being second worse by as narrow a margin as you think you can get away with is not enough to win. You have seen that happen before your eyes. You have seen the consequences. And you still think you can berate and scold and lecture your way out of this, to people who knew you were going to lose all along, voted for the genocidal shit you wanted anyway, and get blamed for the loss they tried to warn you about.

You need voters to win. And no matter how much the prospect disgusts you, They won’t vote for second worst in sufficient numbers for you to win. It’s so unfair that you have to give the voters more than capitulation and genocide.

Funny how not setting your hand on a burning stove won’t result in third degree burns isn’t a good enough reason to not set your hand on a burning stove. You ever heard the phrase “don’t let better be the enemy of perfect”?

No shit Harris sucked, but she sucked a whole lot less than Trump and moving incrementally left from Harris would have been a HELL OF A LOT easier than moving left from Trump. I do absolutely blame the idiots who sat around and said “well, Harris doesn’t inspire me, so I’ll sit here and let the fascist collapse happen. That’ll show everyone how morally superior I am!”

The people who didn’t vote, I think, are worse than Trumo supporters because at least Trump supporters made moves to do what they thought was best while you sat around and twiddled your thumbs and let the world burn around you instead of doing the bare fucking minimum available to you to stop it, or at least slow it down to make it easier to change it in the near future

Yeah, being mad at trump supporters voting for trump is like being mad at your dog for eating its own shit. It’s a dumb animal that eats shit and garbage, what were you expecting? I’m more mad that they have, not just equal, but over representation in this political system. We need a system where ideally, the stupid dogs have no representation, or at a minimum, equal representation to actual thinking human beings.

No excuses for the 3rd party/non-voters in 2024. Life is full of shitty compromises made worse by inaction. I’m amazed they’ve made it this far in life without noticing that, but it’s time to adult the fuck up.

Primaries for Congress are going on right now, and each one of those whiny lazy chucklefucks that got us into the mess ought to be out there stumping for their ideal candidate every waking hour of every day until November.
