Dude Drinks
“Don’t ask for no darn fool dude drink by order of sheriff”
Yet they are on the menu 75¢. Any idea what it is? A cocktail maybe?
Someone on The Old Place suggested:
I think a dude drink would be something fancy and “citified” — like how a dude ranch is for city people to pretend to live the cowboy life.
I’m thinking it’s another name for a cocktail, so basically what you’re saying. During this period “dude” still had a definition exactly like you say. Also a reason that it’s several times more expensive than the base spirit.
Also love that “High Balls” is on the menu for the low price of “Don’t Make”.
Dude drinks 75
I don’t know what it is, but it’s apparently expensive as hell at 75 cents, when you can have a Brandy for 20 cents and like nothing else costs more than a quarter.
I thought “216 Central Avenue” sounded familiar. It’s now occupied by the Pancake Shop, where I’ve had breakfast many times before heading to the horse races. I had no idea that spot had such a cool history.
For all this talk about people looking older than their age in pictures, that grandma with a cane breaks the curve.
As someone in the modern day who is fairly young but walks with a cane…
Just like J to the R-O-C baby

Those girls are 3 and 10
3 drinks and 10 drinks
I’m thinking the cane is the 1935 version of #cuteanimegirlsthrowinggangsignsandstuff
I’m thinking in the first two photo attempts she fell over holding that pose in heels
Home brew cheaper than all the other alcohol. Still is today.
I’m honestly mostly surprised by the sign that reads “IF YOU DONT C WHAT YOU WANT WE AINT GOT IT” - I wasn’t aware that the letter ‘c’ was used to mean ‘see’ in that time period.
What a cursed establishment. The lady is top notch, though.
