    It stands for “complex” - and it is a result of repetitive (often developmental) trauma, like child abuse or domestic violence as opposed to regular PTSD that usually results after a single incident trauma.

    It’s worth noting there is no such thing as a CPTSD diagnoses in the U.S. which is the only country to use the DSM-5 to diagnose.

    It is a valid diagnosis in the rest of the world that uses the ICD-10 or ICD-11.
