I want some good news.
Mums biopsy results came back negative. Given what we knew going in, I was expecting that to be the case, but good to have it confirmed.
Yep, it’s feels a lot better when you get that confirmation. Congrats!
Thanks. Hoping it’s a turning point, a catalyst for her to finally stop smoking, and make other positive changes in her life.
That’s awesome news, congrats!
Appreciate it! It’s sure a load off.
I just got offered a new job after rage quitting a really bad one. I’ll be working with at-risk kids in a group home, basically a low security facility for kids who have either had run-ins with the law and need a second chance or who just don’t have anywhere else to go. I’m excited, for once I feel like I’m going to be doing work that’s actually important and not just making some wealthy idiot wealthier.
Doing something important in your profession has a certain value that money won’t fulfill. Congrats!
I mean, the money’s not bad either 🤣 so I don’t have to worry so much about Christmas presents now
Congrats! That sounds like actually meaningful work.
My SO works from another continent from time to time, he has been gone for a month now but today he told me that he’s going to be home for christmas. My kid is going to be over the moon!
That is great! You’re not gonna make the kid wait are you?😆
It is! We were expecting him back in January.
No of course not. They deserve to know the truth and share the joy.
I got a job after an 11 month job search. I only had 2 interviews in that whole time.
Wow, 2 interviews in 11 months is rough. Last year it took me 5 months, I’d say around 20-30 interviews, and 6 years of experience as a dev. Congrats on the job!
Holy shit, that sounded rough. Good job sticking with it!
Met a cute guy at a bar last night and we talked for a bit. It was really refreshing and took my mind off all the shit that’s been going on.
Good for you!

Changed my name from what some family’s abusive mother gave me, got a job at Amazon, on my way to move out and never see that family again. ✂️👔
Congrats! There’s no feeling like leaving your abusive family behind.
Congrats. Care to share more? Sounds intriguing.
Good for you!
my kid slept the whole night last night. first time. I didn’t even know what to do when I woke up and no one was crying.
I was lucky with both of my kids. They both started sleeping through the night relatively quick.
Good for you! Now, on to the next parenting challenge, but at least you’ll be getting better sleep.
That is just amazing! Been there, felt that! Enjoy!
I’ve been focusing hard on my job, and received feedback from a C Suite Exec this week that he is impressed with my professionalism and interpersonal abilities, especially when meeting with other execs or company lawyers. He even has started coming directly to me because, quote, “Shit gets done when you’re involved.” This is huge to me because I’m impossibly awkward in social circles and mostly a shut-in neckbeard, but somehow it works for me at my job.
I also received recognition in the form of a beautiful glass plaque from the CEO this year, and it feels amazing.
I crawled my way up from homelessness to stability and now I’m rocking it at my job. Feels good man.
I know it’s a bit taboo and perhaps unwise to put so much emphasis on your job, but it’s what brings me happiness because I’ve struggled and fought to get to where I am now. My success has afforded me a comfortable upper-middle-class life and I’m still kind of shocked that it all came to fruition. Went from sleeping under the underpass to a penthouse condo in less than two decades.
There is no need to consider any of this taboo. We spend a very large chunk of our lives simply working to earn money to live. If what you’re doing for work is something that makes you happy and proud to be spending time on, then that is worth some monetary value. At least, that’s how I feel.
My wife is preggo and the baby looks healthy
Oh man congrats!
I remember when mine told me she is pregnant, I was so happy I wanted to jump!
Congrats! Remember these years because they’ll fly by as you try to keep up.
I like to think that they don’t “fly by” as in “pass” because they keep being a part of who we have become, parent and child alike.
Congrats on your baby!
Thx fam
I was just about to leave, put my shoes on, and that’s when I remembered that I needed to take out the trash. The good thing is, I remembered that before tying the laces.
Seems like I usually remember everything once the laces have been tied, but this time was different.
Also, setting a pretty low bar for good things, so that anyone can join the conversation. 😀
Dude, that would have been a great start for my day, like, first accomplishment done! Plus it is great coming back home to a “no chore house” as we call it: No garbage to take out, no meal to cook, no toys to be picked up, no laundry to be fold, etc. I absolutely love the feeling of it.
I remembered to take the reclying to the station when I left the house this morning and I was pretty pleased with myself
Crap, I need to take out the compost. Thanks for the reminder!
I remembered, too! And before I read your comment. Today is going to be a great day!
I just quit my soul-sucking job yesterday. I’m ecstatic to not have to go and sit in that office again.
Congrats!! If you don’t mind me asking : Is it two weeks of ‘I don’t care about y’ all? Or just said F it and left?
I did put in my two weeks, but I had nothing I was working on and I canceled my meetings, so now I’m still laying in bed instead of freezing my ass off in a cubicle :)
More power to you!
Congratulations!
Prepare for mental stability. Good for you!
My parents, in their 70s, started receiving a guaranteed income supplement (they’re Canadian). They’re still poor, but finally they can afford the basics of survival without having to work full time.
It’s such a huge change.
I’ll bet that’s a load off of your mind.
I went to the zoo today! Didn’t get very good quality pics, but putting them here anyway.
Eh, who needs quality? I took this a little over ten years ago and it still makes me laugh for some reason.
I love how fish have such weird faces!
Fuck yeah, the zoo is awesome. Thanks for the neat pics.
I’m sort of dating someone.
2ish weeks ago my parents met another couple at a cocktail party and found out they had a single daughter about my age. In an extremely unsubtle attempt to set us up our families did an escape room together. Honestly, sex and dating have never been important to me. My longest relationship was a couple months long in high school, I went on maybe 3 or 4 dates in college. I went to this escape room thinking I’d make pleasantries for an hour, solve some puzzles and go home. But when I met her she was cute, and smart, and funny, and after we escaped she asked if I wanted to go with her to something else she was doing that day. We ended up spending the whole day together. And again the next weekend. I haven’t “officially” asked her out, or kissed her, or really acknowledged anything about what this is. But I have had so much fun with this badass trapeze-flying, skydiving, engineering, competitive dancing, just-so-cool woman that I can’t stop thinking about when I’ll see her next.
Don’t wait, ask her out. Nothing is worse than an opportunity missed from procrastination, and some girls have short fuses when establishing a romantic foundation with someone.
Asking her out isn’t a binding commitment for a long relationship, but it does bookmark you as an interested party.
Well, sounds like you’re in love. Be careful, but enjoy it! Congrats!
