Russia would need to agree to the proposal for it to take effect as a crucial first step in ending the 3-year-old war.

Russia would need to agree to the proposal for it to take effect

Misleading title, there is no ceasefire yet.

This ceasefire is also not necessarily a good thing for Ukraine

Ukraine is being strongarmed into accepting a ceasefire under the pretense of resuming military aid and intelligence sharing from the US

Putin has called for a ceasefire on many occasions in the past, but this was just a ploy so Russia’s military could rearm and redeploy additional troops and resume fighting. Every time Putin started to lose on the battlefield he would call for a ceasefire like a bully calls for a timeout when the subject of their bullying starts fighting back.

Ukraine initially took these calls for a ceasefire seriously, but quickly understood Putin’s ruse and subsequently ignored all of Putin’s future calls for a ceasefire.

I see Trump’s ceasefire as being no different. This ceasefire will ultimately benefit Russia (shocker) and allow Trump to give some made up reason to once again halt military aid and intelligence to Ukraine once Russia is in a better position to resume fighting.

Nothing is straightforward with Trump, he is all smoke and mirrors in a fugue state of incompetence.

After a while of observing this behavior it has become much easier to predict.

The only time it becomes unpredictable is when variables change in the middle if the scam and Trump has to wing it and make poor decisions that he will later recant as the next version of the scam goes into effect
