Fediverse, the social media system for 40+ year old people who built the world wide web and regret it.

Never thought I would say we need to decentralize the Internet
Yes, bow to me, the grand architect of geocities Dragon Ball Z pages.
I hope he’s not speaking for me cuse I ain’t 40 and I’ll hold on till like last mastodon
I would like to deny this, but I can’t.
I personally blame the iPhone. Shit all started going downhill from then
In our defense, corporations ruined the world wide web. It still has so much potential if they weren’t involved.
Hell yeah, my geocities Nine Inch Nails fan site helped build the Internet
well I feel seen
Mario teaches typing and the Oregon Trail on 5" disks were just a dream.
It was supposed to make everything better, we were sure of it.
We were horribly wrong. Sorry.
Fuck that. I don’t regret it. We built the world wide web from nothing for everyone and had it fucking stolen by rich assholes who put our community resources WE developed behind ads and paywalls. Unlike those uncreative hacks we have the talent to take it back.
Bitch I’m 36 and here on this Lemmy ish to meet the women who will give birth to my first through sixth wives. I have plans for seven onwards. Illuminati shit, y’know? But what I do for the CIA is I easily discredit myself by shaking a loose vestibule of fecal matter from my pant leg before providing education on any number of fun subjects like how MKULTRA was our initial enlightenment program that went and evolved its memetic ass into Star Gate by adding a larger counterintelligence role to the project and this has since and perpetuatively splintered into the modern Anonymous whatchsmacallit or whatever the kids are rizzing their pants about today, and then I follow that completely true series of facts with a rendition of the arts:

I make more money than you doing this. Anyways, have a nice day! I have d-tier sex crimes to go boast about. Toodles!
As a call center employee, the most inexplicably difficult part of my job is asking an older person to navigate to our website. When I give them the 9 letter address, it almost always results in a google search for them and the ordeal of having them try to pick out our website from the sponsored results brings joy to advertisers everywhere.
Software developers, of all people, should be used to the idea of complex projects not turning out quite the way they envisioned them. We’re still building the World Wide Web, and the Fediverse is part of it. I don’t even think we can call it a proper 1.0 version until every person has access to it, and we’re still quite a ways out from that. After we hit that milestone, there will still be an avalanche of maintenance and QoL improvement work to do. I don’t think the Web is something we’ll finish building anytime soon, if ever.
