caffeine only needs 190 mg per kilogram of body weight to have a 50/50 chance of killing you, whereas you would need 280 mg per kilogram of body weight of psilocybin.
I want to do the 25 gram trip then.

go for it.
Physiologically safe, FDA recommended, non-habit-forming.
If things go wrong you’ll suffer at least 6 hours of real life nightmares. If things go really wrong you’ll end up with psychosis. I have done both LSD and shrooms, it was exhausting to say the least. If you have never done psychedelics before you should be really careful , or you risk gigafrying your brain on a stupid heroic dose.
Edit: Also have an emergency trip killer like a benzodiazepine ready.
You’re conflating LSD and psilocybin, two completely different chemicals with entirely different risk profiles.
you are also making alarmist claims without any evidence.
LSD is physiologically and psychologically dangerous.
psilocybin is physiologically safe is only a psychological risk if you already have complicating factors.
please provide evidence if you want to make such far-reaching claims conflating two entirely different chemicals.

Ok dude.
okay.
I would recommend against it. While 25g of MUSHROOMS doesn’t contain enough psilocybin to be anything close to lethal, it does contain enough to potentially be an extremely bad time. As someone who got stoned watching Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and accidentally continued snacking on the almost 28g of mushrooms left in the bag…hard pass. Never again.
Setting is important and that sounds like a terrible movie to do mushrooms on, especially with the creepy mannequin in the beginning.
That said, I think if people are following general recommended procedures, they should try magic mushrooms.
physiologically safe, mind-broadening, non-habit forming, even therapeutically recommended by the FDA.
if you’re texting while driving you can crash your car, but that doesn’t mean you should never drive.
especially if you want to go somewhere.
I am a VERY experienced psychedelic user. I also highly recommend doing mushrooms. I recommend AGAINST eating 25g+ in one sitting.
Edit: I’m just trying to clarify here what might not have been fully evident in my last comment. Mushrooms are a wonderful thing, I fully endorse RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION. Eating almost an ounce in the span of an hour is NOT responsible consumption. I could have been watching something better than Ferris Bueller’s Day off and still been thrown into existential crisis.
I also endorse responsible consumption.
this is why I made the post, to address common forms of alarmism concerning psychedelic mushrooms.
Ok cool. It just seems like you’re glossing over the actual cause of the bad trip. It had nothing to do with the movie.
glossing over? by directly addressing your concerns?
I wasn’t with you when you took that fateful trip, so I am not absolutely certain what went wrong for you. I’m responding to the story you’ve provided.
Setting is very important during a psychedelic trip, and putting on a loud, emotionally aggressive movie that starts with a creepy mannequin is not a psychedelics setting I would ever recommend.
you are making very strong recommendations to other people based on your single anecdotal experience.
Makes for a very different morning tho…
I should buy some shroom chocolate
chocolate was actually my first introduction to shrooms.
it was pretty great. I laughed for a very long time with a friend, and was like “yea. this is good.”
and I didn’t even know how safe it was then, haha.
Pointless fact.
I appreciate your pointless comment.
It isn’t pointless if you wanted to poison someone with psilocybin and had a misconception about the LD50. It’d be a really useful, helpful fact, actually. So, uhh. Thanks OP. I almost made a terrible mistake.

Will it help keep me awake if I take twice as much as usual, then?
The LD50 isn’t the concern rather it is the psychological harm that can come about from bad trips.
toxicity is a concern.
psychological risks concerning mushrooms are extremely low.
much lower than the movies or rumors online might make you think.

That is the point of the post, thank you for your support.

“disinfo”: which part of the ld50 do you take issue with?
again, you are arguing in support of this post that notes the low toxicity of psilocybin.
you’ll have to provide proof or your comments will be removed.

you want details.
details are not at all “disinformation”, which is the deliberate attempt to mislead or deceive.
you simply want more information, which is why I made this post, including the two links to the specific numbers for those interested in the details.
the ld50 of caffeine is about 150 mg/kg, the ld50 of psilocybin is 293 mg/kg.
hence the post letting people(like you) know that caffeine is about twice as toxic as psilocybin.
plenty of people are uninformed as to the toxicity of magic mushrooms, and I want people to know that they are physiologically safer than the active ingredient in soda or tea or whatever caffeinated beverage you prefer.
